A post-emergence herbicide for the control of annual and perennial broadleaved weeds and grasses in sugar beet, fodder beet and mangels. Emulsifiable concentrate containing 100.0 g/l (10.1% w/w) ethofumesate and 80.0 g/l (8.1% w/w) phenmedipham.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Wizard is to be used as a post-emergence herbicide for the control of a range of annual and perennial broadleaved weeds and grasses in all varieties of sugar beet, fodder beet and mangels. Do not use more than 9 litres Wizard per hectare per crop.

WEED CONTROL
Susceptible: Fat hen, black bindweed, black nightshade, common chickweed and field pansy. Moderately susceptible: Annual meadow grass, creeping field-speedwell.

APPLICATIONS
Apply Wizard as an overall spray in 90 to 130 litres of water per hectare. Addition of an approved oil is recommended. Weed control should start at germinating weeds; in general this is at emergence of the beets. The application should be repeated when new weeds appear. Between the applications an interval of approximately 7-10 days should be respected. Apply before leaves meet across the rows.

DOSE:
- 2 litres/ha Wizard when the weeds have fully unfolded cotyledons or a first true leaf.
- 3 litres/ha Wizard when the weeds have two or more true leaves.
These applications can be repeated if necessary.

RESTRICTIONS
The maximum total dose must not exceed 1.0 kg ethofumesate per hectare in any three year period. At application, the crop should be hardened off, dry and healthy. Do not apply to crops which are under stress at time of application, e.g. drought, waterlogging, low temperatures, pest or disease attack, other herbicides etc. Do not spray in dry, sunny weather. When the temperature is, or is likely to be above 21°C on the day of spraying, Wizard should be applied in the evening, otherwise crop scorch may occur. If crops are subjected to substantial day or night temperature variation before or after spraying the crop may be checked to an extent from which it may not fully recover.

DO NOT APPLY WIZARD IF THE CROP IS UNDER STRESS FROM ANY OF THE ABOVE FACTORS.

FOLLOWING CROPS
To prevent damage after treatment with Wizard due to possible residues of the active substance ethofumesate in the soil, the field should be ploughed prior to sowing or planting of a following crop, for instance when winter cereals will be grown or when crop failure has occurred. In case of failure of a crop in which Wizard was used, the following crops can be sown or planted: sugar and fodder beets, maize, rye grasses, peas, spinach, and carrots.

MIXING AND SPRAYING
Before spraying ensure that the sprayer is clean and in good working order. Check all hoses, filters and nozzles and replace if worn or damaged. Calibrate according to sprayer manufacturer’s recommendations. Half fill the spray tank with clean water and begin agitation. When using in a tank mix, always add the mixing partner to the spray tank first. Add the required quantity of Wizard and complete filling. Continue agitation during spraying, until the tank is empty.

Tank mixtures:
Wizard is compatible with certain other chemicals which are recommended for sugar beet weed control such as metamitron. Refer to tank mixing partner’s label for further recommendations.

Warning:
It is not recommended to tank mix any herbicide with Wizard until the crop has reached the two fully expanded leaf stage.
