Flower
Regular, small, approx. 1 mm (0.04 in.) across. Perianth reddish and hairless, usu. with 3 segments (sometimes 4 or 5). Perianth-segments with membranous margins and rounded tips. Dense, axillary flower clusters often somewhat hairy. Carpels fused, gynoecium usu. 2-styled. Stamens usually 5.
Leaves
Alternate, ovate to triangular, hairless, margins usu. with large, pointed teeth. Stalk shorter than blade.
