Avert (70% WP Metribuzin) is a selective herbicide that contains the active ingredient metribuzin. It is effective against a wide range of annual and perennial broadleaf weeds in wheat, potato, tomato, and sugarcane.

Mode of Action:

Metribuzin is a triazinone herbicide that inhibits photosynthesis by disrupting photosystem II. Photosystem II is a complex of proteins and chlorophyll that is involved in the light-dependent reactions of photosynthesis. By inhibiting photosystem II, metribuzin stops the production of ATP and NADPH, which are essential energy molecules for plant growth and development.

Application:

Avert (70% WP Metribuzin) can be applied as a pre-emergence or post-emergence herbicide. The recommended dose and application method will vary depending on the weeds to be controlled and the stage of crop growth. For example, to control annual and perennial broadleaf weeds in wheat, Avert (70% WP Metribuzin) can be applied as a post-emergence herbicide at a dose of 250-300 grams per hectare.

Precautions:

  • Avert (70% WP Metribuzin) is a selective herbicide, but it can harm some crops if applied incorrectly. It is important to read and follow the label directions carefully.
  • Avert (70% WP Metribuzin) is not rain fast. Therefore, it should not be applied if rain is expected within 4 hours of application.
  • Avert (70% WP Metribuzin) is toxic to fish and other aquatic organisms. Therefore, it should not be applied near water bodies.
