Celmix (Metsulfuron Methyl 10% + Chlorimuron Ethyl 10% WP) is a broad-spectrum herbicide that is effective against a wide range of broadleaf weeds and sedges in transplanted and direct seeded rice (under puddled condition).

Active Ingredients:

  • Metsulfuron methyl 10%
  • Chlorimuron ethyl 10%

Mode of Action:

Metsulfuron methyl and chlorimuron ethyl are sulfonylurea herbicides that inhibit the enzyme acetolactate synthase (ALS). ALS is an enzyme that is involved in the biosynthesis of essential amino acids in plants. By inhibiting ALS, these herbicides stop the production of these amino acids, which leads to the disruption of plant growth and development, and eventually to death.

Application:

Celmix can be applied as a pre-emergence or post-emergence herbicide. The recommended dose and application method will vary depending on the weeds to be controlled and the stage of crop growth. For example, to control broadleaf weeds in transplanted rice, Celmix can be applied as a pre-emergence herbicide at a dose of 8-12 grams per acre.

Precautions:

  • Celmix is a selective herbicide, but it can harm some crops if applied incorrectly. It is important to read and follow the label directions carefully.
  • Celmix is not rain fast. Therefore, it should not be applied if rain is expected within 4 hours of application.
  • Celmix is toxic to fish and other aquatic organisms. Therefore, it should not be applied near water bodies.
