General Information
HACHIMAN is a post-emergence herbicide that provides broad-spectrum control of annual and perennial grasses and broadleaf weeds in a variety of crops, including soybean, groundnut, sunflower, and maize. It is a combination of two active ingredients, Quizalofop and Imazethapyr, which work synergistically to provide effective weed control.
Mode of Action
Quizalofop is a selective systemic herbicide that belongs to the aryloxyphenoxy propionate (APP) group. It inhibits the enzyme acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACCase), which is essential for fatty acid synthesis in plants. This leads to the disruption of cell membrane formation and ultimately plant death. Quizalofop is primarily absorbed by the leaves of the plant and translocated to the growing points.
Imazethapyr is a broad-spectrum systemic herbicide that belongs to the imidazolinone group. It inhibits the enzyme acetolactate synthase (ALS), which is involved in the biosynthesis of branched-chain amino acids. This disruption of amino acid synthesis leads to plant growth inhibition and eventual death. Imazethapyr is absorbed by both the roots and leaves of the plant and translocated throughout the plant.
Application
HACHIMAN is applied as a post-emergence spray to actively growing weeds. It is recommended to apply HACHIMAN when the weeds are young and actively growing, typically at the 2-4 leaf stage. For best results, apply HACHIMAN in the morning or evening when temperatures are cooler and humidity is higher.
Precautions
- Avoid spraying HACHIMAN during windy conditions to prevent drift to non-target plants.
- Do not apply HACHIMAN to crops under stress from drought, nutrient deficiency, or other factors.
- Wear protective clothing, including gloves, goggles, and a respirator, when handling HACHIMAN.
- Store HACHIMAN in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
