General Information:

Lagaam is a selective post-emergence herbicide that contains the active ingredient imazethapyr. It is effective against a wide range of annual and perennial broadleaf weeds in soybeans and groundnuts.

Mode of Action:

Imazethapyr is an imidazolinone herbicide that inhibits the enzyme acetolactate synthase (ALS). ALS is an enzyme that is involved in the biosynthesis of essential amino acids in plants. By inhibiting ALS, imazethapyr stops the production of these amino acids, which leads to the disruption of plant growth and development, and eventually to death.

Application:

Lagaam can be applied as a foliar spray. The recommended dose and application method will vary depending on the weeds to be controlled and the stage of crop growth.

Precautions:

  • Lagaam is a selective herbicide, but it can harm some crops if applied incorrectly. It is important to read and follow the label directions carefully.
  • Lagaam is not rain fast. Therefore, it should not be applied if rain is expected within 4 hours of application.
  • Lagaam is toxic to fish and other aquatic organisms. Therefore, it should not be applied near water bodies.
