General Information

Oxim is a selective, pre-emergence herbicide manufactured by Insecticides (India) Limited. It contains oxyfluorfen as the active ingredient and is formulated as a 23.5% emulsion concentrate (EC). Oxim is a contact herbicide that controls a wide range of broadleaf weeds and certain grasses in onion crops.

Mode of Action

Oxim acts by disrupting the lipid synthesis pathway in plants. It specifically inhibits protoporphyrinogen oxidase (PPO), an enzyme involved in chlorophyll and carotenoid production. This disruption leads to the accumulation of phototoxic compounds, causing cell membrane damage and ultimately leading to the death of susceptible weeds.

Application

Oxim is recommended for use in onion crops. It is applied as a pre-emergence herbicide, meaning it is applied to the soil before the emergence of weeds. The recommended dosage varies depending on soil type and weed pressure.
