Pimix is a post-emergence, selective herbicide for the control of broadleaf weeds in cereal crops, including wheat, barley, and oats. It effectively controls a wide range of broadleaf weeds, including chickweed, cleavers, shepherd's purse, and wild radish.

Active Ingredients:

Pimix contains two active ingredients:

  1. Cloquintocet-mexyl: A quizalofop-p-ethyl herbicide that inhibits the enzyme acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACCase), which is essential for fatty acid synthesis in plants. This inhibition disrupts cell membrane formation and leads to the death of susceptible weeds.

  2. Pinoxaden: A phenylpyrazolin herbicide that also inhibits ACCase, providing a synergistic effect with cloquintocet-mexyl for enhanced weed control.

Mode of Action:

Pimix works by interfering with the biosynthesis of fatty acids in susceptible plants. It inhibits the enzyme acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACCase), which is responsible for the production of these fatty acids. The disruption of fatty acid synthesis leads to the impairment of cell membrane formation and ultimately causes the death of the target weeds.

Application:

Pimix is available in a suspension concentrate (SC) formulation. It is specifically designed for use in cereal crops and can be applied at various stages of crop growth. Always follow the label directions for the specific formulation you are using.

Method of Application:

The primary method of application for Pimix is foliar spraying. The herbicide is mixed with water and sprayed evenly onto the foliage of the cereal crops, ensuring thorough coverage. Pimix can be applied as a post-emergence herbicide, targeting weeds that have already emerged.

Precautions:

While Pimix is considered relatively safe when used according to label directions, it is essential to take precautions during handling and application.

  • Wear protective clothing, including gloves, goggles, and a mask, when handling or applying Pimix.

  • Avoid contact with skin, eyes, and clothing.

  • Do not eat, drink, or smoke while handling or applying Pimix.

  • Wash hands thoroughly after handling or applying Pimix.

  • Store Pimix in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area, away from food, feed, and children's reach.

  • Dispose of empty containers safely and responsibly.

  • Pimix is moderately toxic to fish and aquatic organisms. Avoid contamination of water bodies.

Here is a summary of the key features of Pimix herbicide:

  • Post-emergence herbicide for effective control of broadleaf weeds in cereal crops
  • Inhibits acetyl-CoA carboxylase, disrupting fatty acid synthesis in target weeds
  • Selectively controls broadleaf weeds without harming cereal crops
  • Foliar spray application method
