Introduction

Portraitt (Godrej Agrovet Ltd) Quizalofop ethyl 4% + Oxyfluorfen 6% EC is a broad-spectrum herbicide that effectively controls a wide range of annual and perennial grasses, along with certain broadleaf weeds, in various crops, including rice, wheat, sugarcane, and vegetables. It is a combination of two active ingredients: quizalofop ethyl, an aryloxyphenoxypropionate (ARYLXYPHENOXYPROPIONATE) herbicide that inhibits the enzyme acetyl-coenzyme A carboxylase (ACC), and oxyfluorfen, a diphenyl ether (DIPHENYL ETHER) herbicide that disrupts photosynthesis.

Mode of Action

Quizalofop ethyl is absorbed by the foliage of plants and translocated throughout the plant. Once inside the plant, it inhibits the enzyme ACC, which is responsible for the synthesis of fatty acids. Without fatty acids, the cell membranes of plants break down and the plants die.

Oxyfluorfen, on the other hand, is also absorbed by the foliage of plants and disrupts photosynthesis by interfering with the electron transport chain in chloroplasts. This disruption leads to the production of harmful free radicals that damage cellular components, eventually causing plant death.

Application Rates

The application rate of Portraitt will vary depending on the target weed, the crop, and the environmental conditions. In general, the application rate will range from 0.5 to 1.0 liters per hectare.

Application Methods

Portraitt can be applied by foliar spray. Foliar spray is the most common application method. To apply by foliar spray, mix the appropriate amount of product with water and apply the mixture to the foliage of the weeds until they are thoroughly wet.

Application Timing

Portraitt should be applied when weeds are actively growing. The best time to apply is in the spring or fall when weeds are young and tender.

Re-Entry Interval

The re-entry interval for Portraitt is 24 hours. This means that people should not enter the treated area until 24 hours after the last application.
