Ropritan herbicide is an emulsifiable concentrate (EW) formulation containing 37% w/w pretilachlor as the active ingredient. It is a selective pre-emergence herbicide for the control of a wide range of annual grasses and broadleaf weeds in transplanted rice.

Pretilachlor is a chloroacetanilide herbicide that inhibits root development and cell division in susceptible weeds. It is absorbed by the roots and shoots of weeds and translocated throughout the plant. Pretilachlor is most effective when applied to moist soil before weed seeds germinate.

Ropritan herbicide is effective against a wide range of weeds, including:

• Annual grasses: barnyardgrass (Echinochloa crus-galli), junglerice (Echinochloa colona), sprangletop (Leptochloa chinensis), goosegrass (Eleusine indica), and crabgrass (Digitaria spp.)
• Broadleaf weeds: red rice (Oryza sativa f. spontanea), junglerice (Echinochloa colona), water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes), and alligator weed (Alternanthera philoxeroides)

Ropritan herbicide should be applied to the soil surface before weed seeds germinate. It can be applied by broadcast or band application. The recommended application rate is 0.75 to 1.0 kg/ha.
