General Information:

Saathi is a selective post-emergence herbicide that contains the active ingredient pyrazosulfuron-ethyl. It is effective against a wide range of annual grasses, broadleaf weeds, and sedges in transplanted rice (under puddled condition).

Mode of Action:

Pyrazosulfuron-ethyl is an acetolactate synthase (ALS) inhibitor herbicide. ALS is an enzyme that is involved in the biosynthesis of essential amino acids in plants. By inhibiting ALS, pyrazosulfuron-ethyl stops the production of these amino acids, which leads to the disruption of plant growth and development, and eventually to death.

Application:

Saathi can be applied as a foliar spray. The recommended dose and application method will vary depending on the weeds to be controlled and the stage of crop growth. For example, to control annual grasses, broadleaf weeds, and sedges in transplanted rice, Saathi can be applied as a post-emergence herbicide at a dose of 20-30 grams per hectare.

Precautions:

  • Saathi is a selective herbicide, but it can harm some crops if applied incorrectly. It is important to read and follow the label directions carefully.
  • Saathi is not rain fast. Therefore, it should not be applied if rain is expected within 4 hours of application.
  • Saathi is toxic to fish and other aquatic organisms. Therefore, it should not be applied near water bodies.
