General Information:

  • Trade name: Vesnit
  • Active ingredients: Topramezone and Atrazine
  • Herbicide class: Group 12 (WSSA)/Group O (HRAC) herbicide

Mode of Action:

Vesnit is a post-emergence herbicide that works by inhibiting two different enzymes in plants: acetolactate synthase (ALS) and photosystem II (PSII). ALS is an enzyme that is essential for the synthesis of branched-chain amino acids, which are essential for plant growth. PSII is a complex of proteins that is essential for photosynthesis. By inhibiting these two enzymes, Vesnit kills weeds.

Application:

Vesnit can be applied to sugarcane and corn post-emergence at a rate of 1.5 to 2 liters per hectare. It is important to apply Vesnit when the weeds are young and actively growing. Vesnit can be applied using a variety of application methods, including ground spraying and aerial spraying.

Target Weeds:

Vesnit is effective against a wide range of grasses and broadleaf weeds, including:

  • Grasses: Barnyardgrass, crabgrass, foxtail, goosegrass, Johnsongrass, panicum, and ryegrass.
  • Broadleaf weeds: Amaranth, cocklebur, lambsquarters, morningglory, pigweed, and ragweed.

Precautions:

  • Vesnit is toxic to fish and other aquatic life. Do not apply Vesnit to areas where it may run off into water bodies.
  • Vesnit can be harmful to non-target plants. Avoid applying Vesnit to areas where non-target plants are growing.
  • Vesnit is a residual herbicide, so it can persist in the soil for several months. Do not plant crops that are sensitive to Vesnit within 18 months of application.

Always follow the label directions carefully when using Vesnit herbicide to ensure safe and effective use.

Additional Information:

  • Vesnit is a systemic herbicide, which means that it is absorbed by the plant and translocated to the growing points. This makes it very effective at killing weeds.
  • Vesnit is a broad-spectrum herbicide, which means that it is effective against a wide range of weeds.
  • Vesnit is a selective herbicide, which means that it is safe to use on sugarcane and corn.
