General Information:

Jhatka is a selective post-emergence herbicide that contains the active ingredient clodinafop-propargyl. It is effective against a wide range of annual and perennial grasses in wheat.

Mode of Action:

Clodinafop-propargyl is an aryloxyphenoxypropionate herbicide that inhibits the enzyme acetyl-coenzyme A carboxylase (ACCase). ACCase is an enzyme that is involved in the biosynthesis of fatty acids, which are essential for plant growth and development. By inhibiting ACCase, clodinafop-propargyl stops the production of fatty acids, which leads to the disruption of plant growth and development, and eventually to death.

Application:

Jhatka can be applied as a foliar spray. The recommended dose and application method will vary depending on the weeds to be controlled and the stage of crop growth. For example, to control annual and perennial grasses in wheat, Jhatka can be applied as a post-emergence herbicide at a dose of 160 grams per hectare.

Precautions:

  • Jhatka is a selective herbicide, but it can harm some crops if applied incorrectly. It is important to read and follow the label directions carefully.
  • Jhatka is not rain fast. Therefore, it should not be applied if rain is expected within 4 hours of application.
  • Jhatka is toxic to fish and other aquatic organisms. Therefore, it should not be applied near water bodies.
