General Information:

Shagun 21-11 is a selective post-emergence herbicide that contains the active ingredients metribuzin and clodinafop-propargyl. It is effective against a wide range of annual and perennial grasses and broadleaf weeds in wheat.

Mode of Action:

Metribuzin is a triazine herbicide that inhibits the enzyme photosystem II. Photosystem II is a complex of proteins and chlorophyll that is involved in the light-dependent reactions of photosynthesis. By inhibiting photosystem II, metribuzin stops the production of ATP and NADPH, which are essential energy molecules for plant growth and development.

Clodinafop-propargyl is an aryloxyphenoxypropionate herbicide that inhibits the enzyme acetyl-coenzyme A carboxylase (ACCase). ACCase is an enzyme that is involved in the biosynthesis of fatty acids, which are essential for plant growth and development. By inhibiting ACCase, clodinafop-propargyl stops the production of fatty acids, which leads to the disruption of plant growth and development, and eventually to death.

Application:

Shagun 21-11 can be applied as a foliar spray. The recommended dose and application method will vary depending on the weeds to be controlled and the stage of crop growth. For example, to control annual and perennial grasses and broadleaf weeds in wheat, Shagun 21-11 can be applied as a post-emergence herbicide at a dose of 200 grams per hectare.

Precautions:

  • Shagun 21-11 is a selective herbicide, but it can harm some crops if applied incorrectly. It is important to read and follow the label directions carefully.
  • Shagun 21-11 is not rain fast. Therefore, it should not be applied if rain is expected within 4 hours of application.
  • Shagun 21-11 is toxic to fish and other aquatic organisms. Therefore, it should not be applied near water bodies.
