General Information
Torry is a selective, post-emergent herbicide manufactured by Insecticides (India) Limited. It contains tembotrione as the active ingredient and is formulated as a 34.4% suspension concentrate (SC). Torry is a systemic herbicide that controls a wide range of broadleaf weeds in maize and sugarcane crops.
Mode of Action
Torry acts by inhibiting the 4-hydroxyphenylpyruvate dioxygenase (HPPD) enzyme, which is involved in the biosynthesis of carotenoids in plants. Carotenoids play a crucial role in protecting plants from photo-oxidative damage. By inhibiting HPPD, Torry disrupts carotenoid synthesis, leading to bleaching and necrosis of susceptible weeds.
Application
Torry is recommended for use in maize and sugarcane crops. It can be applied as a foliar spray using knapsack sprayers or boom sprayers. The recommended dosage varies depending on the target crop and weed species.
