For the control of weeds in Carrots, Parsnips, Potatoes, Asparagus, Onions, Maize, Sweetcorn, Linseed, Celery, Leeks, Pipfruit and Stonefruit
BEWARE: Apply this product carefully. Spray drift may cause serious damage to other desirable plants. A strategy to minimize spray drift should be employed at all times when applying spray near aquatic environments.
AFALON HERBICIDE has both contact and residual activity and controls a wide range of annual broad-leaved and grass weeds.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Application
Apply AFALON HERBICIDE in a volume of 300-600 litres of water per hectare. Where two rates are recommended the higher rates apply to either heavy soils and soils rich in organic matter, or when weeds have more than four true leaves. The higher rates also apply to areas with a low rainfall and soils of low moisture. The greater volume of water is recommended where weeds are older and where the crop is dense.
CARROTS AND PARSNIPS
Timing: Pre emergence
Rate of use: 2.5 litres/ha
Critical Comments: Apply 5-8 days after sowing but before emergence
Timing: Post emergence
Rate of use: 1-2 litres/ha
Critical Comments: Apply when the crop is at the first true leaf stage.
POTATOES
Timing: Pre emergence
Rate of use: 2-4 litres/ha
Critical Comments: Apply after “moulding up” and before crop emergence.
ASPARAGUS
Timing: Established beds
Rate of use: 1-3 litres/ha
Critical Comments: Apply before cutting commences and after the final cut. Do not apply during the cutting stage. Apply as a basal directed spray.
ONIONS
Timing: 3 true leaf
Rate of use: 0.3-0.5 litres/ha
Timing: 5 true leaf
Rate of use: 0.5-1.0 litres/ha
Critical Comments: Apply after 3 true leaf stage . Foliage must be waxy. Rate may be increased after 5 leaf stage.
MAIZE, SWEETCORN
Timing: Pre emergence
Rate of use: 2-3 litres/ha
Critical Comments: Apply immediately after sowing. Make no further cultivations.
LINSEED
Timing: Post emergence
Rate of use: 0.8-1.5 litres/ha
Critical Comments: Apply at the seedling stage.
CELERY
Timing: Post emergence
Rate of use: 1-2 litres/ha
Critical Comments: Apply after transplanting and use the high rate when weeds are greater than 8 cm high. Apply at the 2 true leaf stage.
LEEKS
Timing: Post emergence
Rate of use: 1-2 litres/ha
Critical Comments: Apply after transplanting
STONEFRUIT, PIPFRUIT
Rate of use: 2 - 4 litres/ha
Critical Comments: Apply low rate on light loam soils. Apply as a directed spray. Avoid drift and direct contact with foliage.

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
Mixing
Shake the container before use. Add the required amount to a partly filled spray tank with the agitation system operating. Complete filling with water and maintain agitation whilst applying.
Crop rotation
Residues resulting from the use of AFALON HERBICIDE may adversely affect susceptible crops. Do not plant crops, other than those recommended for treatment on this label, within 2-3 months of application.
Resistant weeds warning
Naturally occurring weed biotypes resistant to urea herbicides can become more prevalent after many years of continuous use. To delay the onset of, or control resistant weeds, use in rotation with herbicides of different mode of action. Since the occurrence of resistant weeds is difficult to detect prior to use ADAMA New Zealand Ltd accepts no liability for losses that may result from the failure of this product to control resistant weeds.
