General Information
ARIETTA is a postemergence herbicide for the control of a range of broadleaf and grass weeds in maize (silage and grain) and sweetcorn.  ARIETTA is taken up by both leaves and roots, and transported within the plant where it interferes with the synthesis of carotenoids.  This leads to bleaching (chlorosis) of leaves and weeds typically die within 14 days of treatment.  Although ARIETTA is systemic, thorough coverage of the target weed is necessary for optimum results.  Application to small, actively growing weeds when conditions are conducive to maximum photosynthesis (moist, warm, bright sunshine) is ideal.

Weeds controlled

Broadleaf weeds (up to 8 leaves):
Apple of Peru, black nightshade, broad-leaved dock (seedling), butterprint (velvet leaf), chamomile, chickweed, dandelion, fathen, fleabane, groundsel, large flowered mallow, scrambling speedwell, twin cress, white clover and willow weed.

Grass weeds (up to 3 tillers):
Barnyard grass, smooth witchgrass, summer grass and yellow bristle grass.

Resistance Management
ARIETTA contains topramezone, a herbicide from the HPPD (4-hydroxyphenylpyruvate dioxygenase) mode of action group, HRAC GROUP F2 HERBICIDE.  Resistance to topramezone and other group F2 herbicides could develop from excessive use.  To minimise this risk use strictly in accordance with label instructions.  Frequency of application is to be strictly in accordance with the Directions for Use. ARIETTA should be used in a programme which incorporates effective herbicide products with different modes of action.

Beware
Apply this product carefully. Spray drift may cause serious damage to other desirable plants.

Adjuvants
ARIETTA should always be used with a suitable adjuvant such as esterified canola oil (e.g. Hasten™).

Compatibility
ARIETTA is compatible with atrazine and Hasten.  Follow the directions on the partner product label.  Refer to your local BASF field representative for further information.

Mixing and Application
Half-fill the spray tank with clean water and start the agitation.  Add the required amount of ARIETTA directly into the partly filled spray tank with agitation operating.  Rinse any empty containers thoroughly and add rinsate to the spray tank.  Add partner herbicides and adjuvant.  Complete filling and maintain agitation until spraying is completed.  ARIETTA can be applied through conventional spray equipment.  Care must be taken to avoid drift.  Ensure the water rate is sufficient for complete coverage of target weeds.                                                                 ™ Trademark used under licence

Drift Management
Avoid spray solution contacting any desirable plants.  Do NOT apply when conditions favour drift e.g. high winds or incorrect pressure and nozzle setup.

Rainfall & Irrigation
ARIETTA is rainfast once dried on the crop.  Do NOT apply if rainfall is expected within 2 hours of application.
