Selective post-emergence herbicide for use on onions, cereals, clover and grass seed crops, pasture, potatoes, soya beans, peas, lucerne and turf.

For control of: Chamomiles, Stinking mayweed, Cleavers, Storksbill, Onehunga weed and other broad-leaved weeds.

GENERAL INFORMATION
Broadstar Herbicide is a selective contact herbicide which must be applied in sufficient water to ensure that all parts of the target weeds are thoroughly covered. Immature weeds (2-4 leaf) are more readily controlled than more mature plants. Broadstar Herbicide is especially effective against chamomiles, stinking mayweed, cleavers, storksbill and Onehunga weed. Other broad leaved weeds controlled include redroot (Prince of Wales feather), chickweed, black nightshade, spurrey, shepherds purse, thorn apple, and wild turnip. Broadstar Herbicide is not active in the soil, so weeds must have germinated before spraying (post emergence).

DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Restraint: Do NOT apply if rain or frost is expected, or if the foliage is wet.

CEREALS
Timing:
After 4 true leaf
Rate:
2 litres/ha in 170- 500 litres of water
Remarks:
Apply in combination with the sodium salt formulations of MCPB, dichlorprop or mecoprop, applied at label recommended rates. Broadstar Herbicide + MCPB may be applied to crops undersown with clover

CLOVER SEED CROPS
Timing:
In late winter early spring, when weeds are small
Rate:
2-3 litres/ha in a minimum of 500 litres of water
Remarks:
1. Use high water rates and large droplets to ensure penetration into growth crown of the weeds. 2. Add a non-ionic spreader/sticker. 3. Paraquat, applied at least two weeks before Broadstar Herbicide treatment will improve results provided weeds are actively growing at the time of Broadstar Herbicide treatment. 4. Spraying during warm weather gives best results.

DWARF BEANS
Timing:
When crop has 1-2 trifoliate leaves and weeds are at cotyledon to 4 leaf stage
Rate:
1.5-3 litres/ha in 300-500 litres of water.
Remarks:
Some transient leaf scorch may occur, but yield is unlikely to be affected. Do not apply to crops before 1 trifoliate (true) leaf stage and avoid hot conditions (above 21°C). Use higher rates on more mature weeds. Add a non-ionic spreader/sticker to enhance activity on Thorn apple and hairy nightshade.

GRASS SEED CROPS
Timing:
When weeds are at a susceptible stage.
Rate:
2-3 litres/ha in a minimum of 500 litres of water.
Remarks:
1. Ensure thorough coverage of weeds. 2. Add a non-ionic spreader/sticker. 3. Spraying during warm weather gives best results.

LUCERNE
Timing:
During Autumn
Rate:
1.5 litres plus 2 litres of 2,4-DB (40% ai) per ha. or 4 litres/ha alone. Apply in 300-500 litres of water/ha
Remarks:
For control of nodding thistle and storksbill.

NEW PASTURE
Timing:
When clover has 1-2 trifoliate (true) leaves and weeds are at 4-6 leaf stage.
Rate:
3 litres/ha in 300-500 litres of water.
Remarks:
Broadstar Herbicide may be applied with MCPB as a tank mix.

ONIONS
Timing:
After onions have 3 leaves.
Rate:
2-3 litres/ha in 330-550 litres of water.
Remarks:
Apply when weeds are still seedlings and onions are waxy and healthy. 1. Do not apply when soil is water logged. 2. Do not add surfactants. 3. Do not apply when onions are damaged by hail, frost, heavy rain, wind etc. 4.Do not apply other herbicides for 10 days before or after Broadstar Herbicide application.

PASTURE INFESTED WITH GIANT BUTTERCUP
Timing:
Weeds at rosette to just before flower stalk elongation. End of August to midSeptember in most regions
Rate:
750 ml-1 litre/ha in 250 litres of water. 1-5 days after MCPA treatment.
Remarks:
Remove grazing stock and allow pasture to freshen up (approx. 5-10 days).. Apply MCPA at 4 litres/ha, then apply Broadstar Herbicide 1-5 days later. To allow full effect of treatment do not graze for 7-14 days. Retreatment in following seasons will be required to deplete seed bank in the soil. Broadstar Herbicide will control Giant Buttercup that is resistant to MCPA.

PEAS
Timing:
When crop has 1-2 trifoliate leaves and weeds are at 4 leaf stage.
Rate:
2 litres/ha plus MCPB at 2.5 litres/ha. Apply in 300-500 litres of water/ha.
Remarks:
Suitable for use on undersown pea crops.

POTATOES
Timing:
When cleavers are visible and prior to crop emergence
Rate:
2-3 litres in 300- 500 litres of water.
Remarks:
Application can be made as a tank mix with Sencor†

SOYA BEANS
Timing:
When crop has 1-2 trifoliate (true) leaves, and weeds are at the cotyledon to 4 leaf stage.
Rate:
 2-3 litres/ha. Apply in 300-500 litres of water/hectare.
Remarks:
Use a preplant incorporated herbicide to control grass weeds. Some scorch of Soyabean foliage may occur but symptoms will disappear and y8elds will not be affected.

TURF
Timing:
October to early November
Rate:
3 litres/ha in 300- 500 litres of water Or 30 ml/100 square metres in 3-5 litres.
Remarks:
A second spray in the Autumn will reduce the problem for next season. In specialised equipment e.g. “Lawnboy”

NOTE:
(1) Wetting agents should not be added unless specified.
(2) At least 8 hours should elapse after application before rainfall or irrigation.
(3) Use high water rates (minimum rates specified). Low volume CDA application techniques are not recommended.
