General Information
COMET is a novel strobilurin fungicide with broad-spectrum contact, protectant and eradicant activity. It is locally systemic and translaminar to provide some protection to new growth. Thorough coverage of the crop is necessary for best results. COMET has curative activity against early stages of infection but optimum results are obtained from application prior to the onset of infection.

Resistance Management
COMET penetrates the leaf only minutes after its application, diffusing over short distances within the leaf tissue and forming deposits in the areas of the epicuticular waxy layer (lower leaf surface) that had not been treated - providing the perfect all round protection. COMET acts at the site of mitochondrial respiration in the fungi, resulting in the inhibition of the early stages development from spore germination to the formation of appressoria; in the control of young, establishing infection; and in the reduction of spore production and viability.

COMET also has a positive effect on crop physiology including, amoungst others, a distinct greening effect on foliage, which assists in protecting yield and grain quality.

COMET contains pyraclostrobin, a strobilurin type fungicide from the QoI (quinone outside inhibitors) mode of action group GROUP 11 FUNGICIDE. Resistance to this fungicide could develop from excessive use. To minimise this risk use strictly in accordance with label instructions and resistance management strategies that exist for any fungus listed on the label. Always apply COMET in a tank mix as directed or with a suitable fungicide from a different mode of action group at the label recommended rate. Refer to the NZCPR web site for more detailed information (www.nzpps.org/resistance/index.php).
