For long term non selective control of most annual and some perennial weeds and selective weed control in established grapes, asparagus, kiwifruit and apples

DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Before spraying, calibrate equipment to determine quantity of water necessary to uniformly cover measured area to be treated. Carefully weigh proper amount of KARMEX DF and mix into necessary volume of water. Water only serves as a carrier. Material must be kept in suspension at all times by continuous agitation. Except for small areas, use fixed-boom power sprayers properly calibrated to ensure constant rate of application. Openings in screens should be equal to or larger than 300 micrometres. Agitate by mechanical or hydraulic means in the spray tank. If by-pass or return line is used it should terminate at bottom of tank to minimise foaming. For general weed control in small areas, use a knapsack sprayer; shake or stir frequently.

Non-Selective Weed Control
KARMEX DF HERBICIDE is an effective general herbicide for the control of many annual and perennial grasses and herbaceous weeds on non-cropland areas where bare ground is desired. The degree of control and duration of effect will vary with the amount of chemical applied, soil type, rainfall and other conditions.

KARMEX DF may be used at any time for non-cropland weed control, providing adequate moisture is supplied by rainfall or artificial means. Best results are obtained if applied shortly before weed growth begins.

NON-CROPLAND AREAS SUCH AS ROADSIDES, BRIDGE APPROACHES, INDUSTRIAL PLANT SITES, RAILWAYS AND AROUND FARM BUILDINGS
Weeds Controlled:
Most weeds including many annual and perennial grasses and herbaceous weeds
Rate: Boom spray:
10 – 20 kg/ha Knapsack: 1.5 kg in 100 litres of water
Critical Comments:
Use the lower rate on light soils and the higher rate on soils high in clay or organic content For application by handgun mix 1.5 kg KARMEX DF in 100 litres of water. For small areas mix 1 capful of KARMEX DF in 10 litres of water. A well maintained, accurately calibrated boom sprayer or handgun can be used to apply KARMEX DF, use sufficient water to provide thorough and uniform coverage of the ground, 200-450 litres per hectare for boom spraying or 1000 litres per hectare when gun spraying.

IRRIGATION AND DRAINAGE DITCHES
Weeds Controlled: Most weeds including many annual and perennial grasses and herbaceous weeds
Rate: 20 kg/ha
Critical Comments: For irrigation ditches apply during the non-crop season, and when ditch is not in use. Application to drains, ditches and irrigation channels must only be made when these waterways are dry and at least two months are allowed to elapse before the channels are used for carrying water. Do not treat any ditch area into which roots of trees or other desirable plants may extend.

Susceptible Weeds
KARMEX DF controls weeds such as Crab Grass, Fat Hen, Amaranthus, Annual Poa, Spurrey, Wild Portulaca, Black Nightshade, Buttercups, Henbit, Willow Weed, Shepherds Purse and Scarlet Pimpernel. Weeds not controlled include Plantains, Speedwells, Paspalum and Sorrel. If these weeds are a problem add POLARIS 360, POLARIS 450 or POLARIS PLUS and ADAMA METSULFURON HERBICIDE to the spray mix.

Selective Use In Crops
Any well-established weeds should first be eliminated by mechanical or other means. For best results, the soil should be well prepared and as free as possible from trash and clods. Unless otherwise directed, surface of the soil should not be cultivated or disturbed after application as efficacy may be reduce and/or crop injury may result. Sufficient moisture in the form of rainfall or irrigation is necessary after treatment to carry the chemical into the root zone of germinating weeds. Application should be to the surface of the ground by fixed boom sprayers properly calibrated to a constant speed and rate of delivery. Use sufficient water (280 – 450 litres/ha of area actually sprayed) to provide thorough and uniform coverage of the ground. Spray booms must be shut off while starting, turning, slowing or stopping or injury to the crop may result.

GRAPES
Weeds Controlled: Most weeds including many annual and perennial grasses and herbaceous weeds.
Rate: Light soils: 2 – 3 kg/ha Heavy soils: 3 – 7 kg/ha
Critical Comments: Apply only to established vineyards (at least three years old) as a band application to grape rows. On light, sandy soils use the lower rate (of area actually sprayed) and on soils high in clay or organic matter use the higher rate. Apply just prior to germination and growth of annual weeds, usually after the first cultivation in the spring

KIWIFRUIT
Weeds Controlled: Most weeds including many annual and perennial grasses and herbaceous weeds.
Rate: Light soils: 2 kg/ha Heavy soils: 3 – 4 kg/ha
Critical Comments: Apply only to established vines (at least two years old) as a band application. On light soils use the lower rate (of area actually sprayed) and on heavier soils use the higher rate. Apply just prior to germination and growth of annual weeds. On established weeds add a knockdown herbicide

APPLES
Weeds Controlled: Most weeds including many annual and perennial grasses and herbaceous weeds.
Rate: Light soils: 2 kg/ha Heavy soils: 3 – 4 kg/ha
Critical Comments: Apply only to crops that are at least two years old. On light soils use the lower rate (of area actually sprayed) and on heavier soils use the higher rate. Apply just prior to germination and growth of annual weeds. On established weeds add a knockdown herbicide.

ASPARAGUS - Established
Weeds Controlled: Most weeds including many annual and perennial grasses and herbaceous weeds.
Rate: Light soils: 1 – 2 kg/ha Heavy soils: 2 – 4.5 kg/ha
Critical Comments: On light, sandy soils and other soils low in clay or organic matter, use the lower rate (of area actually sprayed). On soils high in clay or organic matter, use the higher rate. Apply as a band or blanket spray prior to the cutting season before weeds have become established. A second application may be made immediately following completion of harvest if rainfall is expected. When two applications are made in a season, do not exceed 3 kg/ha per application.

ASPARAGUS - Seedlings
Weeds Controlled: Most weeds including many annual and perennial grasses and herbaceous weeds.
Rate: 1 – 2 kg/ha
Critical Comments: Apply before emergence. Do not exceed 2 kg/ha.
