General Information
STOMP XTRA is a selective broad-spectrum herbicide recommended for use in certain fruit crops and onions for the control of annual grasses and broadleaf weeds. DO NOT USE ON SWEETCORN OR CROPS GROWN FOR SEED. Following application of STOMP XTRA to the soil and its absorption by the plant, both root and shoot growth are inhibited in susceptible plants. Affected plants die shortly after germination or following emergence from the soil. STOMP XTRA will not control perennial or established weeds. Weed control with STOMP XTRA may be reduced where soil organic matter exceeds 6%. Approximately 12 mm of rainfall or irrigation within ten days of application is required for optimum performance. Reduced weed control can be expected when used under dry soil conditions.

Mode of Action
STOMP XTRA inhibits microtubule formation in the plant cell, which results in the disruption of cell division and cell elongation in shoot and root meristems of susceptible plants. The germination of weeds is unaffected; growth inhibition and subsequent death occur following germination of the seed or shortly after emergence from the soil. The primary site of action of STOMP XTRA is at the growing points of the plant. Differential susceptibility is caused by differences in germination depth and exposure of growing points to direct applications.

Following Crop Restrictions
Under prolonged dry conditions or prolonged cold wet conditions certain crops are susceptible to injury when planted in soil previously treated with STOMP XTRA. Do not plant sensitive grasses (such as ryegrass), cucurbits or beets for at least 6 months following STOMP XTRA application.

Weeds controlled

Black nightshade, chickweed, cornbind*, fathen, field pansy, fumitory, henbit, redroot*, scarlet pimpernel, shepherds purse*, speedwell, spurrey, stinking mayweed*, storksbill*, wild oats* and wireweed. These weeds are controlled under favourable conditions or by using higher rates.

Soil Preparation
The seedbed must be prepared with a fine, firm tilth free of ridges, clods or trash. The seed should be sown so that after consolidation it is covered by a minimum of 15 mm for onions. Do not disturb the soil by rolling or harrowing after STOMP XTRA has been applied.

Mixing
Fill the spray tank to one quarter capacity with water and with the agitation system operating. If required, add a tank mix partner at this stage and mix thoroughly. Fill the spray tank to one half capacity, and then add the required amount of STOMP XTRA and the rest of the water, mixing thoroughly. Agitation is required during spraying and after a stoppage.

Application
Use a conventional sprayer with either mechanical or bypass agitation. Apply the recommended amount of STOMP XTRA herbicide in sufficient water to ensure accurate cover. This should be from 150-400 litres per hectare.

Compatibility

STOMP XTRA may be tank mixed with appropriate herbicide partners (e.g. simazine) depending on the crop.

Resistance Management

Individual weeds resistant to STOMP XTRA, and other herbicides with the same mode of action, may occur in any weed population. To avoid the possibility of weed resistance developing, include herbicides with a different mode of action in your weed control programme.

Toxicity
Harmful Substance. Acute oral LD50 (rat) >5000 mg/kg. Acute dermal LD50 (rat) >5000 mg/kg.

Environment
Low hazard to birds and beneficial insects. Do NOT apply STOMP XTRA under adverse weather conditions, or with spraying equipment that could be expected to cause spray to drift onto nearby susceptible plants, adjacent crops, croplands or pastures. Do NOT contaminate streams, rivers or waterways with the chemical or used container.

Other Limitations
STOMP XTRA is a HARMFUL SUBSTANCE. Keep out of reach of children.

First Aid
If swallowed, give water to dilute. Do not cause vomiting unless medical attention is delayed more than an hour. Obtain medical attention immediately. If spilt on the skin, remove contaminated clothing and wash affected areas of the skin with water, and soap if available. Do NOT scrub the skin. Get medical attention if irritation persists. If splashed in the eyes, hold eyelids open and flush with water for 15 minutes. Get medical attention if irritation occurs.

Restraints
Do NOT sow sensitive summer crops such as sorghum and millets within 12 months of application of STOMP Xtra. Do NOT apply to a poorly prepared seedbed. Do NOT use STOMP Xtra mixed with atrazine on heavy clay soils. Do NOT apply STOMP Xtra where waterlogging is likely to occur.

Storage
Store in original container, tightly closed, away from foodstuffs and under lock and key. Keep out of reach of children.
