TYLLANEX is a selective pre- and post emergence herbicide for weed control in Forestry, Maize, Sweetcorn, Peas, Orchards and for non-selective long term weed control in non cropland areas.

TYLLANEX acts by inhibiting photosynthesis and is mainly absorbed through the roots although some leaf absorption does take place. Rain or irrigation of at least 10mm is necessary within 1 week to wash the chemical into the root zone.

Pre-emergent applications can be made when rain is imminent or actually falling but post emergent applications should be avoided if rain is likely within 3 hours.

Surfactant should be added to increase leaf uptake. Root absorption and residual activity is reduced by soil organic matter and there is little effect above 10% O.M.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE:
TYLLANEX controls a wide range of weeds including barley grass, black nightshade, browntop, catsear, chickweed, clovers, cocksfoot, dove's foot, fathen, Kentucky bluegrass, nodding thistle, Poa spp, redroot, ryegrass spp, Scotch thistle, seedling gorse, shepherd's purse, storksbill, sweet vernal, willow weed, Yorkshire fog plus annual grasses and broadleaf weeds.

TYLLANEX does not control deep rooted perennial grasses such as couch, paspalum, kikuyu and Indian doab, or broadleaf weeds such as Californian thistle, docks and dandelion group weeds.

ARABLE and ORCHARD CROPS:

MAIZE AND SWEETCORN
Rate: Pre-emergence 3.6 litres/Ha in 200-300 litres water
Critical Comments: Apply before crop emergence to freshly prepared seedbeds. The addition of ALANEX® or another suitable herbicide is necessary to control annual grass weeds

Rate: Post-emergence 3 litres/Ha in 200-300 litres water
Critical Comments: Apply to actively growing weeds no taller than 5 cm. Add a wetter at the label rate.

PEAS
Rate: 1.5-2 litres/Ha in 200-300 litres water
Critical Comments: Apply before crop emergence to freshly prepared seedbeds. Use the higher rate under dry soil conditions. Rainfall or irrigation is necessary after application to move the product into the weed root zone. Do not use the TYLLANEX in very porous soils

ORCHARD CROPS (PIPFRUIT, CITRUS, GRAPES, KIWIFRUIT)
Rate: 6-8 litres/Ha in 200-300 litres water
Critical Comments: Do not apply to trees/vines less than 1 year old or where plants are growing in light sandy soil. Pre-emergence: Apply in the Spring to weed free soil. Post-emergence: To control established weeds, tank mix with a contact herbicide.

FORESTRY:

FORESTRY (Radiata Pine, Douglas Fir, Eucalyptus fastigata, Eucalyptus saligna)
Rate: Broadcast: 15-20 litres/Ha in 200-300 litres water
Critical Comments: Apply prior to spring growth. Use the higher rate on perennial grasses or where vegetation is dense. Amitrole 400g/L a.i. addition is recommended where cocksfoot and Californian thistle are present and seedling growth is over 5cm high. Add a wetter at the label rate. Avoid using this combination on Douglas Fir once spring growth flush has commenced or if using knapsack spraying equipment.

Rate: Spot treatment: 110 mL/litre water
Critical Comments: Apply 15-20 mL of dilute spray per square metre Add wetting agent at label rates and treat 2 square metres around each tree.

Rate: Knapsack: 55 mL/litre water
Critical Comments: Apply 30-40 mL of dilute spray per square metre. Add wetting agent at label rates and treat 2 square metres around each tree.

For Knapsack and Spot application, a 2m2 spot is recommended. This will prevent adjacent tall grasses from falling inwards and smothering the trees. For more detailed information please refer to the Adama FORESTRY Fact Sheet.

For pre-plant application, mix TYLLANEX with POLARIS® 450 or POLARIS ACCELERATE (540g/L potassium salt glyphosate) and treat strips or spots first then plant the trees as soon as they are visible.

Alternatively strip or spot spray with POLARIS before planting, plant when strips or spots are visible then respray with TYLLANEX once the transplants have settled down. Add ARROW® if grass regrowth is evident.

For post plant applications use TYLLANEX alone, or tank mix with ARROW if grass weeds are a problem. Radiata pine can tolerate direct spray contact, but for other forestry species take care to avoid contact with foliage and stems unless local experience has shown they can tolerate small amounts of drift. A second treatment in late winter or early spring the following year is recommended to maintain maximum tree growth. Apply TYLLANEX alone or in mixture with ARROW and avoid contact with tree foliage.

For Radiata pine, if seedling gorse or other brushweeds are a problem, clopyralid can be applied when gorse is actively growing. Where possible, brushweeds should be controlled prior to planting.

CEREALS and NON-CROPLAND:

CEREALS
Critical Comments:
Under certain conditions, detailed in FAR Arable Update No.67, TYLLANEX can be applied to cereals. Please read and understand this Arable Update before application. Tank mixing TYLLANEX with certain other cereal herbicides will improve the spectrum of weeds controlled particularly fumitory, spurrey and chickweed.
