Characteristics: Upright growing annual with bristly seed head Leaves bright green, soft, hairless but often with long hairs next to collar. Emerging leaf rolled Ligule hairy, 0.6–1.5 mm long. Auricles absent. Sheath flattened when very young becoming rounded, usually pale green. Seed head has barbed awns that stick together.
