Sida retusa

Tough erect perennial shrub, branching from the base, to 1 (rarely to 3) m high with a strong branching taproot. Stems fibrous to woody with tough stringy bark, hairless or sparsely covered with star-shaped hairs. Leaves lanceolate, 2–9 cm long, hairless or with a few simple hairs, margins toothed; on stalk 3–7 mm long, with two unequal stipules at the base. Fruit 4.5–6 mm wide separating into 1-seeded mericarps (fruitlets). Mericarps red-brown to black, pitted.
