For use only as a professional post seeding, pre emergence herbicide for use in winter oilseed rape for the control of various annual grass and broadleaved weeds
WG formulation containing 400g / kg (40% w/w) napropamide and 35 g/kg (3.5% w/w) clomazone

Directions for use:
IMPORTANT: This information is approved as part of the product label. All instructions within this section must be read carefully in order to obtain safe and successful use of the product. Altiplano DAMTEC is a post sowing, pre-emergence residual herbicide which can be used in all varieties of winter oil seed rape.
Altiplano DAMTEC is suitable for use on all soil types except sands and soil containing more than 10% organic matter. This herbicide is a water dispersible granule (WG) co formulation of 2 active ingredients: Napropamide (acetamid K3) and Clomazone (isoxaolidinones F3) where clomazone is microencapsulate. These 2 active ingredients confer to Altiplano DAMTEC a wide weed spectrum for the control of important grass and broadleaves annual species

Restrictions:
When applying Altiplano DAMTEC it is important for crop safety to ensure physical separation of the herbicide from the seed. This is achieved by ensuring that the seed is well covered with soil. Possible bleaching of the first leaves of the crop may occur especially when used in light soil or following excessive rainfall. Bleaching symptoms are transient and subsequent yield is not affected.
If Altiplano DAMTEC is applied onto a dry soil surface it will only be effective after rainfall has occurred. Weed control is dependent on adequate soil moisture. Avoid damage by drift onto non-target crops and plants.
The use of low drift nozzles will reduce spray drift (further information can be found in The Voluntary Initiative ‘Best Practice Guide- Nozzle Selection and Maintenance’, www.voluntaryinitiative.org.uk.
Do not overlap spray swaths, particularly on the headlands. Do not treat crop which are badly seeded. Avoid spray drift on to the neighboring crops. Wash equipment thoroughly after use, rinsing three times with water. Trace of the product may cause damage to susceptible crops sprayed later.

Resistance:
Strains of some annual grasses (e.g. Black-grass, Wild-Oats, and Italian Ryegrass) have developed resistance to herbicides, which may lead to poor control. A strategy for preventing and managing such resistance should be adopted. Guidelines have been produced by the Weed Resistance Action Group and copies are available from the HGCA, CPA, your distributor, crop adviser or product manufacturer. Key elements of the resistance management strategy for Altiplano DAMTEC
• Always follow HRAC guidelines for preventing and managing herbicide resistant weeds.
• Maximize the use of cultural control measures wherever possible (e.g. crop rotation, ploughing, stale seedbeds, delayed drilling, etc).
• Use tank mixes or sequences of effective herbicides with different modes of action within individual crops, or successive crops.
• Monitor fields regularly and investigate the reasons for any poor control.

Crop
Time of application:
Altiplano DAMTEC should be applied as soon as possible following sowing of the crop and before emergence of both the crop and target weeds.

Rate of application:
Apply 3 Kg Altiplano DAMTEC per hectare. Do not use Altiplano DAMTEC on sands or very light soils. Do not use on soils with more than 10% organic matter.

Conditions of application:
It is important for crop safety that the seed is covered (harrowing or rolling of direct drilled crops) by a minimum of 2cm of soil. For optimum efficacy seedbeds should be firm, level and free of clods, loose and puffy seedbeds should be consolidated before spraying. Maximum efficacy is reached if product is applied on moist soil allowing a good distribution of Altiplano DAMTEC on the superficial soil layer and good root intake by weeds. Under specific condition and particularly when application is followed by a drought period and then by heavy rain falls, transitional phytotoxic symptoms may appear. Low temperature following application may also increase phytotoxicity to crop. Do not roll the crop after treatment. Do not irrigate within 3 weeks following treatment. If heavy rainfall are announce for the coming hours, delay/postpone treatment after rain. Avoid any drift of the product to adjacent crop apply by calm weather with no wind. Avoid any over lapping.

Water volume:
When applying Altiplano DAMTEC use a volume of water within the range of 200 to 400 L per ha.

Rotational crops:
Following a post-seeding pre-emergence application of Altiplano DAMTEC in winter oilseed rape and in a normal crop rotation, any crop can be grown after normal harvest of the winter oilseed rape, regardless of the type of soil cultivation.

Replacement crops:
If crop failure occurs following a post-seeding pre-emergence application of Altiplano DAMTEC in winter oilseed rape, the following spring it is possible to plant field beans, maize, peas, potato, spring oilseed rape, and sunflower without restriction, provided at least 7 months have elapsed since application of Altiplano DAMTEC. Additionally, spring barley, sugar beet, clover, spring oat and spring wheat are possible when preceded by deep soil cultivation (ploughing), provided at least 7 months have elapsed since application of Altiplano DAMTEC. The sowing of winter cereals as replacement crop in the same autumn is not recommended.

Spray solution preparation:
Before using Altiplano DAMTEC ensures the spray equipment is clean.
1. Half fill the tank with clean water and switch on the stirrer. Add the required dose to the spray tank and complete filling, continuing agitation until spraying is completed.
2. On emptying the container, RINSE CONTAINER THOROUGHLY by using an integrated pressure rinsing device or manually rinsing three times when empty. Add washings to sprayer at time of filling and dispose of container safely.
3. After mixing use spray solution as soon as practically possible, continue agitation until spraying is completed.

If using an induction system then mixing should be as follows:
1. Half fill the induction bowl with clean water.
2. Slowly pour the required amount of product into the induction bowl, turn on the pump and suck the contents of the induction bowl into the spray tank, at the same time rinsing the bowl.
3. On emptying the container, RINSE CONTAINER THOROUGHLY by using an integrated pressure rinsing device or manually rinsing three times when empty. Add washings to sprayer at time of filling and dispose of container safely.
4. Repeat the procedure of half filling the bowl with water and sucking out until no trace of remains on the mesh, filter, drain hole or sides of the bowl.
5. Ensure all contents are sucked out and the bowl is thoroughly rinsed before adding any tank-mix partner.
6. On preparation of spray solution, use as soon as practically possible.
7. Maintain agitation at all times.
8. Spray out as soon as possible after mixing.
9. Do not let the mixture stand.

After use:
CLEANING of the EQUIPMENT
To avoid damage to crops further processed with the same equipment; it is necessary to thoroughly clean sprayer (including the inside and outside of the lid) using clean water. Completely fill and flush the contents of the spray tank a minimum of three times before any subsequent operations. Spray equipment should not be drained or flushed onto land planted with or intended for planting with trees or crops other than oilseed rape. Carefully rinse face and hands with water and soap.
