DIRECTIONS FOR USE
IMPORTANT: This information is approved as part of the product label. All instructions within this section must be read carefully in order to obtain safe and successful use of this product.
Restrictions
Due to high level of activity of the herbicide, take extreme care to avoid damage by drift onto plants outside the target area, or onto ponds, waterways or ditches. Thorough cleansing of equipment is also very important.
Application of the product in the zone of protected water intake is prohibited.
Do not contaminate water with the product or its packaging.
Do not apply: before weed emergence, onto wet plants or before expected rainfall (rainfall within 12 hours spraying can decrease the efficacy). Do not use on crops grown for seed.
Lime, fertilisers or other pesticides should not be applied for at least 5 days before or after the application of Cleancrop Bronco.
For the pre-crop emergence uses, ensure that spraying precedes ANY crop emergence.
Effects on processing have not been established. Consult grain merchant or processor before use.
Weed control
CLEANCROP BRONCO is a systemic herbicide applied on leaves. It is taken up by green parts of the plant (leaves, green shoots and non-ligneous bark) and translocated to the underground parts (roots, runners etc.) inhibiting the growth and development within 24 hours followed by plant death. First symptoms of the product reaction (yellowing and wilting) are visible 7 to 10 days after product application. Complete plant death takes place after approximately 3 weeks. Under conditions of drought, flooding, frost or high temperatures, disease or insect damage or weeds heavily covered with dust, where plant growth is restricted the efficacy of this product will be reduced.
Apply when there is full emergence of grasses and broad-leaved weeds and they have ACTIVELY GROWING green leaves. PERENNIAL GRASSES must have full emergence of healthy, green leaf. (Common Couch, for example, becomes susceptible at the onset of tillering and new rhizome growth, which usually occurs when plants have 4-5 leaves, each with 10-15 cm of new growth). PERENNIAL BROAD-LEAVED WEEDS are most susceptible around the flowering stage. ANNUAL GRASSES AND BROAD-LEAVED WEEDS should have at least 5 cm of leaf, or 2 expanded true leaves, respectively. In set-aside, annual grasses are best treated at full ear emergence, or before stem elongation. Application during stem extension phase of annual grasses e.g. Black-grass and Brome species on set-aside between the end of April and end of May, may result in poor control and require re-treatment.
Weed resistance
This product contains glyphosate which is an ‘EPSP synthase’, also classified by the Herbicide Resistance Action Committee as ‘Group G’ (glycines).
When herbicides with the same mode of action are used repeatedly over several years in the same field, selection of resistant biotypes can take place. These can propagate and may become dominating. A weed species is considered resistant to a herbicide if it survives a correctly-applied treatment at the recommended dose. Development of resistance within a weed species can be avoided or delayed by sequencing or tank-mixing with suitable products having a different mode of action.
Some strains of grasses, e.g. black-grass, wild-oats and Italian rye-grass have developed resistance to herbicides which may lead to poor control. A strategy for preventing and managing such resistance should be adopted. This should include integrating herbicides with a programme of cultural control measures. Guidelines have been produced by the Weed Resistance Action Group and copies are available from the HGCA or the Crop Protection Association.
Soil and weather
CLEANCROP BRONCO can be used on all soil types. Weed control may be reduced when leaves of weeds are wet from previous rain.
Water volume and application
Apply the recommended rate of CLEANCROP BRONCO in 100 to 400 L/ha water using suitable ground equipment to give good spray cover of the weeds. Use a conventional field crop sprayer at a pressure of 2-3 bars and apply as a MEDIUM spray (as defined by BCPC).
Mixing
Half fill the spray tank with clean water and start the re-circulation system. Pour the required quantity of product into the spray tank. Top up the spray tank with water to the required level. Continue agitation until the tank is sprayed out. Spray immediately after mixing.
DO NOT STORE, MIX OR APPLY THIS PRODUCT FROM AN UNLINED OR GALVANISED STEEL TANK. Do not leave mixtures in spray tanks over long periods. Ensure that spray tanks are always thoroughly ventilated.
Compatibility
CLEANCROP BRONCO is not intended for use in tank-mixture. Do not mix Cleancrop Bronco with any other product as this may result in reduced weed control.
Crops
CLEANCROP BRONCO can be used on field crops post-harvest, in cereals at crop stage BBCH 89, in pome fruit, in oilseed rape at crop stage 87-89 and in grassland before sowing for removal of weeds.
Subsequent cropping
All crops can be cultivated on fields where CLEANCROP BRONCO was applied. Cultivation and drilling can take place 6 hours after application to control annual broad-leaved weeds, 24 hours after spraying annual grasses and 5 days after spraying perennial weeds. If direct drilling is practiced 6 hours after application, only small annual weeds should be present. Allow minimum 7 days if weather conditions are not favourable and before planting of trees, ornamentals, vegetables etc. A slight growth retardation following germination may be seen if seeds are sown by direct drilling amongst decaying vegetation, roots, rhizomes or stolons.
Spray tank clean-out
It is important that the spray tank, boom, hoses filters and nozzles are thoroughly washed out to remove all traces of CLEANCROP BRONCO immediately after spraying and before the sprayer is used again;
1. Drain sprayer completely, then wash out tank boom and hoses with clean water. Drain again.
2. Fill the tank with clean water. Flush through boom and hoses then leave sprayer for 10 minutes with agitation on. Then drain completely.
3. Flush the tank, boom and hoses with clean water twice.
Ensure any spray contamination on the outside of the sprayer is removed by washing in clean water.
