A capsule suspension containing 360 g/litre clomazone. A residual herbicide for the control of a range of annual weeds in oilseed rape, potato, carrot, vining pea, combining pea (spring), field bean (winter) and field bean (spring).

DIRECTIONS FOR USE
IMPORTANT: This information is approved as part of the Product Label. All instructions within this section must be read carefully in order to obtain safe and successful use of this product.

GENERAL INFORMATION
Clomate is a novel microcapsule suspension formulation of clomazone. It is a residual herbicide for use in all varieties of winter oilseed rape, potato, combining pea (spring), vining pea, winter and spring field beans, and carrots, for application to the soil prior to crop and weed emergence. Clomazone acts by blocking the synthesis of certain essential plant pigments, including those required for photosynthesis. Susceptible weeds absorb clomazone during germination and emerge with bleached or discoloured leaves and die shortly after emergence

WARNINGS AND RESTRICTIONS
CROPS EMERGED AT THE TIME OF APPLICATION MAY BE SEVERELY DAMAGED. EXTREME CARE MUST BE TAKEN TO AVOID SPRAY DRIFT to avoid severe damage or complete destruction of plants outside the target area.
DO NOT APPLY under windy conditions.
DO NOT ALLOW SPRAY SWATHS TO OVERLAP as crop damage may occur. Do not apply to broadcast crops.
Do not cultivate after application.
Do not use on sands, very light soils or on soils with more than 10% organic matter content or on any soil with poor or compacted soil structure or that is subject to waterlogging. A reduced level of weed control may result if a prolonged dry period follows application. Weed control is likely to be unsatisfactory if application is made to dry cloddy seedbeds.
Under certain climatic conditions, some transient discolouration of the crop foliage may occur, which can be particularly severe if heavy rain falls soon after application. These transient symptoms are quickly outgrown and have no adverse effect on crop yield. Trace amounts of Clomate remaining in the sprayer after use can cause damage to other crops subsequently treated with the same equipment. Immediately after use thoroughly clean the sprayer and all equipment as detailed in the section “SPRAYER DECONTAMINATION”. The safety of Clomate to daughter tubers has not been tested, consult the manufacturer or your advisor before using on seed crops. Contract agents should be consulted before using on crops grown for seed. Effects on processed crops have not been established. Consult processor before using Clomate on crops intended for processing. There is a risk to adjacent crops and non-crop vegetation from the volatilisation of Clomate. This may result in damage/bleaching to neighbouring vegetation. If effects are seen they must be reported via the Stewardship Programme (see www.clomate.eu or contact your crop protection distributor or adviser).

RESISTANCE MANAGEMENT
There is a moderate risk for the development of weed resistance to Clomate. A strategy for preventing and managing such resistance should be adopted. This should include integrating herbicides with a programme of cultural control measures and alternating the use of Clomate with other herbicides with a different mode of action and a similar spectrum of activity. Guidelines have been produced by the Weed Resistance Action Group and copies are available from the HGCA, CPA, your distributor or crop adviser. Implement a weed resistance strategy based on Good Agricultural Practice and including the following: Follow the label recommendations.
Adopt complementary weed control practices. Minimise the risk of spreading weed infestations. Implement good spraying practice to maintain effective weed control. Use the correct spray nozzles to maximise coverage. Apply only under appropriate weather conditions. Monitor herbicide performance and report any unexpected results to Albaugh Europe Sàrl.

APPLICATION
Before use, make sure the spraying equipment is cleaned from any previous use and that it is calibrated to apply the recommended spray volume and pressure. After use, make sure the sprayer and all equipment are thoroughly cleaned as detailed in the section “SPRAYER DECONTAMINATION”. Apply in 200-400 litres of water per hectare as a COARSE spray (BCPC). Do not allow the spray boom to bounce or yaw, and ensure an even coverage of the soil surface.

MIXING
Half fill the sprayer tank with clean water and begin gentle agitation. Add the required quantity of product into the sprayer tank and allow to disperse fully. Rinse the empty containers thoroughly by using an integrated pressure rinsing device or manually rinsing three times. Add the washings to the sprayer and continue agitation whilst topping up the tank with water to the required level. Continue agitation until the mix is sprayed out. Spray immediately after mixing, do not allow the mixture to stand in the sprayer.

CROP RECOMMENDATIONS
Winter Oilseed Rape
Apply to moist level seedbeds that are of a fine tilth and free from clods. Loose or puffy seedbeds should be consolidated by rolling or other cultivations prior to application. The seed should be covered by at least 20mm (3/4 inch) of soil to ensure adequate crop safety. Where a crop has been direct-drilled, the drill slits must be closed by harrowing across the direction of drilling prior to application. Where direct drilled crops are treated then ploughing and cultivating to a depth of 15 cm must take place before the planting of any subsequent crop. Do not apply to broadcast crops. Clomate may be used on all varieties of winter oilseed rape. Apply as soon as possible after sowing the crop and before emergence of crop and weeds. Apply 0.33 litres per hectare in 200-400 litres as a COARSE spray (BCPC). Do not allow the spray boom to bounce or yaw, ensure an even coverage of the soil surface.

Field Bean (winter)
Apply to crops on level seedbeds that are of a fine tilth and free from clods. Loose or puffy seedbeds should be consolidated by rolling or other cultivations prior to application. The seed should be covered by at least 20mm (3/4 inch) of soil to ensure adequate crop safety. Where crops are direct drilled they should be cultivated before application to close the slits and cover the seed.
Clomate may be used pre-emergence of crop and weeds on all varieties of field bean (winter). Apply as soon as possible after sowing and before emergence of the crop and weeds. Apply 0.33 liters per hectare in 200- 400 liters as a COARSE spray (BCPC). Do not allow the spray boom to bounce or yaw, ensure an even coverage of the soil surface.

Potato
Apply to crops on level seedbeds that are of a fine tilth and free from clods. Loose or puffy seedbeds should be consolidated by rolling or other cultivations prior to application. The seed potatoes should be covered by at least 20mm (3/4 inch) of soil to ensure adequate crop safety. Clomate may be used pre-emergence of crop and weeds on all varieties of potato. Apply as soon as possible after the last ridging operation and before the soil starts to crack (usually about 7 days before emergence). Apply 0.25 litres per hectare in 200-400 litres as a COARSE spray (BCPC). Do not allow the spray boom to bounce or yaw, ensure an even coverage of the soil surface.

Carrot, combining pea (spring), vining pea, field bean (spring)
Apply to crops on level seedbeds that are of a fine tilth and free from clods. Loose or puffy seedbeds should be consolidated by rolling or other cultivations prior to application. The seed should be covered by at least 20mm (3/4 inch) of soil to ensure adequate crop safety. Where crops are direct drilled they should be cultivated before application to close the slits and cover the seed. Clomate may be used pre-emergence of crop and weeds on all varieties of carrot, vining pea, combining pea (spring), and field bean (spring). Apply as soon as possible after sowing and before emergence of the crop and weeds. Apply 0.25 litres per hectare in 200- 400 litres as a COARSE spray (BCPC). Do not allow the spray boom to bounce or yaw, ensure an even coverage of the soil surface. Do not treat two consecutive crops of carrots with any product containing clomazone in one calendar year.

FOLLOWING CROPS
After normal harvest of any crop treated with Clomate, the soil must be ploughed and cultivated to a depth of at least 15cm prior to planting any of the following crops listed below: Cereals, oilseed rape, field beans, potatoes, combining peas, maize, linseed, sugar beet, turnips. Do not plant any following crop not listed above in the season immediately following a crop treated with Clomate.

REPLACEMENT CROPS
In the event that a crop treated with Clomate should fail for any reason, observe the restrictions listed in this section to determine the crops that may be planted as a replacement for the failed crop. Prior to re-sowing or planting any listed crop following failure of a treated crop, the soil must be ploughed and cultivated to a depth of at least 25cm.
