DIRECTIONS FOR USE
IMPORTANT: This information is approved as part of the Product Label. All instructions within this section must be read carefully in order to obtain safe and successful use of this product.

GENERAL INFORMATION
GALERA is a post-emergence herbicide for use on all varieties of winter oilseed rape for the control of cleavers and mayweeds. GALERA is mainly absorbed through the foliage of weeds and translocated to other plant parts. The ideal timing for application is when the weeds are small and actively growing.

FOLLOWING CROPS
Following application of Galera the following restrictions on planting the following crops must be observed: Wheat, barley, oats, maize, oilseed rape: 4 months (120 days) All other crops: 36 months (3 years) Ploughing or thorough cultivation should be undertaken prior to planting leguminous crops (e.g. field beans and peas).

CROP FAILURE
In the event of crop failure of a spring treated GALERA crop, only the following crops may be planted: spring oilseed rape, spring wheat, spring barley, spring oats, maize or ryegrass (provided ploughing or thorough cultivation is undertaken prior to replanting).

NOTES
Do not use any plant material treated with GALERA for composting or mulching.
Do not use manure from animals fed on crops treated with GALERA for composting.
GALERA residues in plant tissues which have not completely decayed may affect succeeding susceptible crops.
If treated crop remains have not fully decayed by the time of planting following crops then avoid planting: peas, beans and other legumes; carrots and Umbellifers; potatoes; lettuce and other Compositae; glasshouse and protected crops.
Chop and incorporate all treated plant remains in the early autumn (or as soon as possible after harvest) to release any residues into the soil, where they are more quickly broken down. Following good agronomic practice ensure that stubble and straw (including farmyard manure and digestate) and other treated plant remains have completely decayed before planting susceptible crops.
Do not spray when crops are under stress from cold, drought, pest damage, nutrient deficiency etc.
Do not roll or harrow 7 days before or after application.
Take extreme care to avoid drift onto crops and non-target plants outside the target area.
Contract agents should be consulted before using on crops grown for seed.

WEED SUSCEPTIBILITY
To achieve optimum levels of weed control, good spray coverage of the target weed is required.

CROPS
GALERA can be used on all varieties of winter oilseed rape.

TIMING
GALERA can be applied in the spring from the beginning of March (BBCH 20) up to but before flower buds are visible above the crop canopy (BBCH50).

RATES OF USE
One application of 0.35 litre/ha will control all susceptible emerged weeds.

WATER VOLUME
Apply GALERA in 200 litres of water per hectare.

SOIL
GALERA may be used on all soil types.

APPLICATION
GALERA may be applied through tractor-mounted hydraulic sprayers providing they are in good working order and have been calibrated according to the manufacturer’s recommendations. Do not apply through CDA applicators. MIXING Half fill the spray tank with water and add the required amount of GALERA. Fill up the spray tank, agitating continuously to ensure thorough mixing, and maintain agitation until spraying is complete. Use only clean water for mixing.

SPRAY QUALITY
Apply GALERA as a MEDIUM spray as defined by the BCPC system.

TANK CLEANING
Thoroughly wash all spraying and measuring equipment with water immediately after use. To avoid subsequent injury to crops, all spraying equipment must be thoroughly cleaned both inside and out after an application of GALERA.
1. Immediately after spraying, drain tank completely. Any contamination on the outside of the spraying equipment should be removed by washing with clean water.
2. Rinse inside of tank with clean water and flush through booms and hoses using at least one tenth of the spray tank volume. Drain tank completely.
3. Half fill tank with clean water. Agitate and then briefly flush the boom and hoses. Top up with water making sure the tank is completely full and allow to stand for 15 minutes with agitation. Flush the boom and hoses and drain tank completely.
4. Nozzles and filters should be cleaned separately and removed if necessary.
5. For disposal of washings, follow local regulations. Do not spray onto sensitive crop or land intended for cropping with sensitive crop. Note: If it is not possible to drain the tank completely, step 3 must be repeated before going onto step 4.
