For the control of annual weeds in lettuce, endives, radicchio, bulb onions, salad onions, shallots, nursery trees and trees for public gardens.
An emulsifiable concentrate formulation containing 400 g/l (39.9% w/w) chlorpropham

DIRECTIONS FOR USE
IMPORTANT: This information is approved as part of the Product Label. All instructions within this section must be read carefully in order to obtain safe and successful use of this product’.

RESTRICTIONS
Apply before weeds have emerged. Seeds must be well covered with soil.
Avoid overlapping of spray swaths. Do not spray in the neighbourhood of ready to harvest crops. Avoid drift, especially to very sensitive crops such as flax, poppy seed, cereals (during or before flowering), cucumber, tomatoes, melons and gherkins.
The variety of trees for nursery or public gardens is very extensive and the sensitivity for this product can, even within one species, be very variable. If there is no experience with this product, it is advised to test the product at a small scale to the conditions at the farm.

WEATHER CONDITIONS
Preferably apply on humid soils and at not too high temperatures, so preferably in the autumn or the spring. Under ideal circumstances, there should be some light rain afterwards. Do not apply when heavy rainfall is predicted shortly after the application. Drought after the application can make the treatment less effective. Spraying under windy conditions could lead to uneven distribution over the field and drift to adjacent crops and should therefore be avoided.

SOILS
INTRUDER can be used on all soils, except on sandy soils with less than 1% organic matter and on sandy open textured soils due to the risk of wash out to the roots of the crops. Seedbeds should be fine and moist for best results. Do not disturb the soil after application of INTRUDER.

RESISTANCE
Strains of some annual grasses, e.g. black-grass, wildoats, and Italian rye-grass, have developed resistance to herbicides which may lead to poor control. A strategy for preventing and managing such resistance should be adopted. Guidelines have been produced by the Weed Resistance Action Group and copies are available from the HGCA, CPA, your distributor, crop adviser or product manufacturer.

WEEDS CONTROLLED
Chlorpropham mainly works by absorption by the subterranean parts of the weeds. It is therefore very important to apply the product on a weed-free soil. New emerging weeds will also be controlled if they belong to the sensitive species. The product works against a number of annual weeds.
Composites (groundsel, smooth sow-thistle, mayweed and others) and cleavers are insensitive. Also perennial weeds will not be controlled.

CROP SPECIFIC INFORMATION
Endive, lettuce, radicchio
Apply before planting and/or 1-2 weeks after planting out.
Dose: maximum individual dose 1.9 litres/ha, maximum total dose of 3.8 litres product/ha/crop. Apply with an interval of 1-2 weeks.
Spray volume: 500 litres/ha.
Remarks: Slight damage on the first leaves following the application after planting out is possible. This has no influence on the following leaves and on the yield.
Do not apply to lamb’s lettuce.
Bulb onions, salad onions and shallots (spring and overwintered) including drilled and planted from sets and transplants
Follow for these crops either the standard application system or the Low Dosage System.
Standard application
Apply before and/or after emergence of the crop until the 4-leaf stage
Dose: 1.8 litres/ha, 1-3 applications with an interval of 5-10 days.
Spray volume: 450 litres/ha.
Remark: Application between emergence and the 1-leaf stage can give some crop damage.
Application according to the Low Dosage System
Apply before and/or after emergence of the crop.
Dose: 0.5-1 litres/ha, 1-6 applications with an interval of 5-10 days. The total dosage may not exceed 6 litres/ha. Spray volume: 300 litres/ha.
The application of chlorpropham might lead to taint with pickling onions. CONSULT PROCESSOR before using on crops for processing.

Following crops
It is advised to cultivate treated land to a depth of 15 cm before planting succeeding crops

Mixing and spraying
Before use ensure that all spraying equipment is clean. Add the appropriate amount of INTRUDER to clean water in a half-filled sprayer tank, mix thoroughly, and add the remainder of the water. Rinse container thoroughly by using an integrated pressure rinsing device or manually rinse three times. Add washing water to sprayer at time of filling and dispose of safely. Agitate continuously while filling the sprayer and during spraying. Spray immediately after mixing, and do not allow the spray mixture to stand in the sprayer tank. For all crops, INTRUDER should be applied using a medium quality spray (BCPC classification) and a water volume as mentioned in the section “crop specific information”.

Cleaning of equipment
All application equipment must be thoroughly cleaned prior to storage or use on another crop. After using INTRUDER, empty the tank completely and drain the whole system. Thoroughly wash the inside of the tank with a pressure hose. Quarter fill the tank with clean water and circulate through the pump, line, hoses and nozzles, then drain. Quarter fill the tank again, add a suitable detergent and circulate through the system for at least 15 minutes. Drain, remove filters and nozzles and clean separately. Rinse the inside of the tank thoroughly using a pressure hose and flush system with clean water.

Compatibility
No tank mixes are recommended on the label.
