DIRECTIONS FOR USE
IMPORTANT: This information is approved as part of the Product Label. All instructions within this section must be read carefully in order to obtain safe and successful use of this product.

GENERAL INFORMATION:
K-Obiol EC25 is a liquid grain protectant for the fabric of building and admixtures for the control of stored product pest including crawling insects such as grain weevils (Sitophilusgranarius), flour beetles (Tribolium castaneum), grain borers (Rhyzopertha dominica), sawtoothed grain beetles (Oryzaephilus surinamensis) and bean weevils (Acanthoscelidesobtectus) and flying insects such as warehouse moths (Euphestia cautella), rice moths (Corcyra cephalonica), Indian meal moths (Plodia interpunctella) and grain moths(Sitotroga cerealella).

After just one month’s storage, insect damage can cause losses of up to 15%.

K-Obiol EC25 is a modern liquid pyrethroid formulation that is an ideal alternative to organo-phosphate formulations. It can be applied to the fabric of a building, providing up to two months protection. There is no withholding period between applying K-Obiol EC25 and using the grain for consumption. When applied to grain, it can provide up to 12 months protection against crawling insects and two months against flying insects.

RESTRICTIONS:
The Maximum Residue Level (MRL) on whole cereal grains for deltamethrin is 2 ppm.
The Maximum Residue Level (MRL) on pulses for deltamethrin is 1 ppm.
When applied at the recommended rates, the residue levels of K-Obiol EC25 is 0.25 ppm.

APPLICATION:
The residual life of the treatment depends on the type of application and the surface.

Complete direct admixture with grain and pulses
For maximum efficacy follow ‘The grain storage guide’ published by the Home-Grown Cereals Authority (HGCA), the moisture content should be below 14.5% and the temperature below 12°C before admixture and during storage. Storage of grain with a higher moisture content will reduce the efficacy of the treatment. K-Obiol EC25 is diluted with water and applied using low-pressure nozzles situated over the conveying machinery, as near to the final storage place as possible. The application rate should be adjusted to apply 1 litre of solution per tonne of grain/pulses. Dilute 1 part K-Obiol EC25 with 99 parts water (1 litre of concentrate to 99 litres of water treats 100 tonnes of grain/pulses) to provide up to 12 months protection against listed crawling insects and up to 3 months against listed flying insects i.e. moths.

Treatment of grain storage buildings/equipment
There is no waiting period between treatment and use of buildings/equipment, however for maximum efficacy, treatments should be applied to a previously cleaned store, 3 to 4 weeks before filling. The performance may be impaired on concrete surfaces. The store should be thoroughly swept or vacuumed to remove all loose fragments and previous stored crop waste that could shelter pests. This debris must be burned or disposed of well away from the building. Guidance on cleaning of grain stores can be obtained from the ‘The grain storage guide’ published by the Home-Grown Cereals Authority (HGCA).
Use a knapsack sprayer equipped with a low pressure nozzle producing a medium to coarse spray.
Absorbant surfaces (e.g.unsealed wood and concrete) - Add 20 to 30 ml of K-Obiol EC25 to each 5 litres of water. Spray at a rate of 5 litres of solution per 50 sq metres. Non-porous surfaces (e.g. metal, sealed wood, sealed concrete) - Add 40 to 60 of K-Obiol EC25 to each 5 litres of water. Spray at a rate of 5 litres of solution per 100 sq metres. The treatment provides 2 month protection.

RESISTANCE
Where strains resistant to deltamethrin occur or develop, effective control will not be achieved
