DIRECTIONS FOR USE
NOTE: These Directions for Use form part of the Approved Product label and must be read before using the product. LEGARA is a post-emergence herbicide for the control of mayweeds and cleavers in all varieties of winter oilseed rape. It is absorbed through the leaves of weeds and translocated throughout the plant to achieve good control. Weeds are most susceptible when they are small and actively growing. Since it is foliar-acting, it can be used on all soil types.

RESTRICTIONS
Do not roll or harrow crops within 7 days preceding of after application. Do not treat crops that are under stress from pest or disease attack, drought, frost or water-logging. Residues of crops and weeds treated with LEGARA must not be used for composting or mulching. Manure from animals fed on crops treated with LEGARA must also not be used for composting. After harvest of the treated crop, any remaining plant tissue should be chopped and incorporated into the soil to promote the release of any herbicide residues which are rapidly broken down once in the soil. Traces of LEGARA can persist in plant tissue. Where tissue of treated crops has not completely broken down, susceptible following crops may be affected. Before sowing susceptible crops, ensure that no tissue of the preceding treated crop remains in the soil. Susceptible crops include legumessuch as peas and beans, Umbellifereae such as carrots, potatoes, lettuce and all glasshouse and protected crops.

DOSE RATE AND TIMING
Apply 0.35 L/ha LEGARA to small, actively growing weeds in the autumn or the spring once the oilseed rape has at least 4 true leaves and before the flower buds can be seen above the crop canopy. Applications should be made in a water volume of 200 – 300 L/ha as a MEDIUM spray as defined by BCPC. Ensure good coverage of the weeds but take care not to overlap spray swathes or to let drift to reach non-target plants or other crops. Only one application per crop is permitted. Do not apply through CDA sprayers KEEP IN ORIGINAL CONTAINER, tightly closed in a safe place.

MIXING
Before spraying it is important to check all hoses, filters and nozzles, and to ensure that the sprayer is clean and correctly set to give an even application at the correct volume. Half fill the spray tank with clean water. Shake the container well and then begin agitation and add the required quantity of LEGARA. Add the remainder of the water and agitate the mixture thoroughly before and during spraying. Spray immediately after mixing. After application, wash out the sprayer with detergent and a minimum of two rinses to remove residues from the tank and hoses. Any traces of LEGARA left in the tank may affect susceptible crops sprayed later.

WEEDS CONTROLLED
The following species are susceptible up to the growth stage listed in the table below.
Weed species:Scentless mayweed
Maximum susceptible growth stage:Up to 150 mm diameter or high
Weed species:Scented mayweed
Maximum susceptible growth stage:Up to 150 mm diameter or high
Weed species:Cleavers
Maximum susceptible growth stage:Up to 150 mm diameter or high

FOLLOWING CROPS
In the event of failure of a crop treated in the autumn, the choice of crops for replacement in the spring is limited. Plough or thoroughly cultivate the field and then sow either spring oilseed rape, spring wheat, spring barley, spring oats, maize or ryegrass. Any crop can be sown in the calendar year following a normal harvest of an oilseed rape crop treated with LEGARA but prior to sowing peas or beans the field must be ploughed or thoroughly cultivated and no plant tissue from the preceding crop must be left in the soil profile.
