A soluble concentrate formulation containing 20 g/l (1.9% w/w) 6-benzyladenine for use as a plant growth regulator for chemical thinning of apples, increased fruit size and promotion of return bloom.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE
IMPORTANT: This information is approved as part of the product label. All instructions within this section must be read carefully in order to obtain safe and successful use of this product. MaxCel contains 20 g/l (1.9 % w/w) 6-benzyladenine, which is a plant growth regulator belonging to the group known as cytokinins. This substance causes thinning of fruitlets, increases apple fruit size and promotes return bloom.

Crops:
MaxCel is for use only as a plant growth regulator on apples.

Application rates and Water volume:
For full sized trees with full leaf cover, use a maximum dose of 7.5 litres product in 1000 L of water per hectare. For smaller trees, or thinner canopies, the dose and water volume may be reduced in accordance with a recognised dose adjustment scheme e.g. UK PACE. The concentration of spray solution must not exceed 750 ml product in 100 litres water. Please view detailed use recommendations in the table below.

Timing:
See application recommendations in the table below. MaxCel can be applied once per season.

Additional Comments:
Low temperatures at the time of application have no influence on thinning efficacy as long as temperatures increase above 15 °C.
Do not apply when leaves are wet, or when trees or fruit are under stress.
Within the stated dose range, use higher rates in orchards and cultivars that have a history of being difficult to thin and in cool weather situations.
Expect more thinning when maximum daily temperatures exceed 30 ºC. Recommended rates may be reduced in easy to thin cultivars.

Mixing instructions:
Do not premix MaxCel. Half-fill a clean spray tank with water, begin agitation and add the required amount of MaxCel. Avoid vigorous agitation which may lead to excessive foaming. Maintain agitation while bringing the total volume to the required level and until spraying is completed.

Water Quality:
Use water with a pH between 5 and 7. Do not use water pH in excess of 8.5.

After use:
Immediately after use, clean the spray equipment thoroughly. Dilute any spray solution remaining in the tank with at least 10 parts clean water and then spray onto the treated field. The tank should then be double rinsed (adding water until the tank is approximately 25% full and spraying this solution onto the treated field). A commercially available cleaning agent can be added to the rinse water if desired.

Rainfastness and Irrigation:
Rainfall or overhead irrigation within 12 hours after spraying may reduce product activity
