Directions for use
IMPORTANT: This information is approved as part of the Product Label. All instructions within this section must be read carefully in order to obtain safe and successful use of this product. The rate of application should be reduced to 0.35 kg product per ha when tank mixing with other herbicides, applying to crops on lighter soils, or applying in cooler conditions. Application may only be made between 1 May and 30 September.

RESTRICTIONS
DO NOT ALLOW SPRAY DRIFT into greenhouses or onto other agricultural or horticultural crops, amenity plantings or gardens. Not to be used in glasshouses. Do not allow spray applications to come into contact with desired broad-leaved trees. Beets, all brassicae (including oilseed rape), lettuce peas, tomatoes, potatoes, all fruit crops and ornamentals are particularly susceptible to dicamba and may be damaged by spray drift.
DO NOT apply OCEAL to crops suffering from herbicide damage or stress caused by pests, nutrition defects or weather.
DO NOT spray when cold or frosty conditions are prevalent.
DO NOT spray maize subjected to substantial day to night temperature fluctuations.
DO NOT spray OCEAL during periods of high temperature.
Avoid overlapping spray swaths.
Keep container sealed when not in use.

CROP SPECIFIC INFORMATION
MAIZE Timing and Rates of Use
Control of Broad-leaved Weeds: Apply once at 0.5 kg per ha in 200 l per ha of water post-emergence once the crop has 3 true leaves. Do not apply when the crop has more than 6 leaves (i.e. is beyond growth stage BBCH 16). In order to give maximum control the weeds must be young, growing actively and the soil moist.

Following crops
In the event of crop failure for any reason only re-drill with maize, after ploughing. There are no restrictions on following crops after normal harvest.

Application
OCEAL must be applied using equipment which gives a good coverage of weeds (A Spray Quality “MEDIUM” as defined by BCPC and corresponding to a mean droplet size of 225 microns is recommended). Do not spray OCEAL if rainfall is expected in the following 12 hours.
Spray equipment must be properly calibrated prior to use. Keep container sealed when not in use.

Mixing
Half fill spray tank with water and add the required amount of OCEAL whilst constantly agitating. Add the remainder of the water. Agitate constantly during spraying.

Spray rating
Apply OCEAL as a MEDIUM spray as defined by the BCPC system.

Resistance
When herbicides with the same mode of action are used repeatedly over several years in the same field, selection of resistant biotypes can take place. These can propagate and may become dominant. A weed species is considered to be resistant to an herbicide if it survives a correctly-applied treatment at the recommended dose. A strategy for preventing and managing such resistance should be adopted. This should include integrating herbicides with a program of cultural control measures. Guidelines have been produced by the Weed Resistance Action Group and copies are available from the HGCA, CPA, your distributor, crop adviser or product manufacturer.
