DIRECTIONS FOR USE
IMPORTANT: This information is approved as part of the product label. All instructions within this section must be read carefully in order to obtain safe and successful use of this product.

RESTRICTIONS
Disease control may be reduced if strains of a pathogen less sensitive to Pointer develop.
1. Strains of mildew with decreased sensitivity to triazole fungicides are known to exist in the UK. Where these occur or develop, the activity of the flutriafol component of Pointer will be reduced.
2. Under conditions of stress, some varieties of wheat can exhibit flag leaf tip scorch. This can be increased by application of fungicides.
3. The maximum number of sprays of a product containing flutriafol to any cereal crop should be no more than two (250g ai/season).
4. Pointer contains a DMI fungicide. Resistance to some DMI fungicides has been identified in Septoria leaf blotch (Mycosphaerella graminicola) which may seriously affect the performance of some products. For further advice on resistance management in DMIs, contact your agronomist or specialist advisor and visit the Fungicide Resistance Action Group (FRAG) U.K.website.

RECOMMENDATIONS
As a general rule, disease control and yield benefit will be optimal when application is made at an early stage of disease development.
Rate of Application: 1.0 litre per hectare

CROPS AND TIMING
Pointer can be applied to winter wheat and winter and spring barley before the ‘early grain milky ripe’ stage
1. Winter and Spring Barley
a. Powdery Mildew (Erisiphe graminis)
i i. Autumn Application to Winter Barley
Spray thick crops on medium to heavy land if mildew becomes obvious (5%) on the youngest leaves. All other crops should be sprayed when mildew is seen (2%) on the lower leaves (see Note 1 below).
ii. Spring and Summer Application
Apply when the mildew is first seen (2%) on the lower leaves to avoid spread to new growth (see Note 1 below).
b. Leaf Blotch (Rhynchosporium secalis)
Apply when the disease is present (2%) and before it spreads to new growth. A second treatment up to the grain watery ripe stage may be necessary under prolonged disease pressure.
c. Yellow and Brown Rust (Puccinia striiformis and Puccinia hordei)
Apply in the spring/summer at the start of disease attack when not more than 1% of any leaf is infected. A second treatment may be needed where disease pressure persists and can be of benefit up to the ‘grain watery ripe’ stage. Pointer will only give moderate control of Brown Rust.

2. Winter Wheat
a. Powdery Mildew (Erisiphe graminis)
Apply in the spring/summer when mildew is first seen (2%) on the lower leaves to avoid spread to new growth (see Note 1 below).
b. Leaf Spot (Septoria tritici)
Pointer may be applied from GS30 onwards. A spray should normally be applied after GS32-33 when leaf spot is present on the lower leaves and as soon as the weather favours disease spread. A follow-up spray may be required when conditions continue to favour disease development up to the latest timing.
c. Yellow and Brown Rust (Puccinia striiformis and Puccinia recondita)
Apply in the spring/summer at the start of disease attack when not more than 1% of any leaf is infected. Where an early treatment has been applied, a second may be needed where disease pressure persists and can be of benefit up to the ‘grain watery ripe’ stage. Pointer will only give moderate control of Brown Rust.

MIXING AND APPLICATION
1. Preparation of Sprayer
Ensure that the sprayer is clean and correctly set to give even application at the required volume. Half-fill the spray tank with clean water and start agitation. Shake the container well before opening and use. Add the correct amount of Pointer to the tank using a filling device (e.g. an induction hopper) or by direct addition to the tank. Rinse the container clean preferably with an integrated pressure rinsing device, otherwise manually rinse three times. Add the washings to the spray tank at the time of filling. Continue to agitate during completion of filling and the spraying operation.
2. Volume of Water and Spraying
Apply through conventional crop spraying equipment with a ‘Medium’ quality spray and using at least 200 litres of water per hectare and a pressure of 2.1 bar. In dense crops, increase the water volume to 250-300 litres per hectare to improve coverage.

COMPATIBILITY
Pointer is compatible with a wide range of plant protection products. Please consult Headland Agrochemicals or your distributor for the latest information. Alternatively, full compatibility information is available on our web-site at www.headland-ag.co.uk.
Before using any tank mixture, also consult and comply with the recommendations of the partner products. Each product should be added separately to the bulk of the water in the spray tank and thoroughly mixed before adding the next chemical. Agitate during completion of filling and spray immediately.
