INTRODUCTION
Shinkon is a fungicide with protectant and contact action for the control of potato late blight (Phytophthora infestans).

CROPS
All varieties of early, second early, maincrop and seed potatoes may be treated.

DISEASES CONTROLLED
Shinkon controls both foliage and tuber blight of potatoes (Phytophthora infestans) when used as part of a full programme of correctly timed sprays. Apply Shinkon as a protectant treatment early in the season before blight enters the crop. Failure to treat blight at this stage can result in severe yield losses. Shinkon can be used at any stage of a blight spray programme. Shinkon should be applied only as a protectant treatment. Using Shinkon when blight has become readily visible (1% leaf area destroyed) is not recommended.

RESISTANCE RISK MANAGEMENT
Amisulbrom is a member of the Qil group of fungicides. To reduce the risk of resistance developing, Shinkon, or other fungicides of the Qil group, should make
up no more than 50% of sprays in the intended blight control spray programme. Alternation with fungicides having other modes of action is recommended in spray programmes. No more than three Qil treatments should be made consecutively. If further treatments are required, allow a minimum of three applications of a fungicide from another chemical group to be applied before resuming with Shinkon (or another Qil fungicide). Further information on resistance management is available form FRAG and AHDB potato websites. Consult your agronomist for further advice.

RATE, WATER VOLUME & APPLICATION
Number of Applications and Dose Rate
Apply a maximum of 6 applications per crop, or a maximum of 50% of sprays in intended programmes of less than 12 fungicide applications (see Resistance
Management section). Use spray interval of 7 – 10 days. The last application may be made no later than 7 days before harvest. Use up to 0.5 litres of product per hecatre. The maximum total dose is 3.0 litres of product/ha.

Water Volume
Apply Shinkon in 200 – 500 litres of water per hectare.

Application Timing
The first spray must be applied as soon as there is a risk of blight infection, that is when a Blight Infection Period (Smith Period) has occurred or an official warning has been issued. In the absence of any warning, spraying of Shinkon should begin just before the crop foliage meets along the row. Applications of 7-day intervals should be used during periods of high diease pressure and rapid development of the haulm. When disease pressure is low, applications may be extended to a maximum of 10-day intervals. Applications of Shinkon can be made at any stage of a blight spray programme, with the last application no later than 7 days prior to harvest. This product can be used in a blight programme in sequence with a range of other fungicides.

Spray Quality
Apply as a MEDIUM quality spray (as defined by BCPC). A spray pressure of 2 – 3 bar is recommended.

Rainfastness
Shinkon should be applied when the foliage is dry, where possible. Shinkon is rainfast within 3 hours. Rainfall or irrigation within 3 hours of application may lead
to some loss of fungicidal activity.

MIXING AND SPRAYING PROCEDURE
Half-fill the spray tank with water. Add the required quantity of Shinkon and agitate continuously. Complete the process by adding the remaining quantity of water to the required level. Do not allow the product to stand in the sprayer overnight. Ensure application equipment and especially nozzles are thoroughly cleaned before starting spraying. Spraying equipment should be properly calibrated before use to ensure accurate application. Wash equipment thoroughly after use and before storage.

SPRAY TANK CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS
Following use of the product, immediately wash out the spray tank with water and liquid detergent. Then wash twice with water and drain the tank.

SUCCEEDING CROPS
There are no proposed limitations placed on succeeding crops. In the event of the crop being replanted or another crop being planted in the same soil as the treated crop, it is recommended to plough the soil to a normal depth.

TANK MIXING COMPATABILITY
Shinkon has been tested for physical and biological compatibility with selected pesticide products used on potatoes. For up to date details please contact the
manufacturer/distributor.
