DIRECTIONS FOR USE
NOTE: These Directions for Use form part of the Approved Product label and must be read before using the product. SPIRAL is a systemic fungicide. It is rapidly absorbed into the vegetative parts of the plant and then translocated throughout the plant. It controls a wide range of diseases in a wide range of crops. For best disease control, apply as soon as disease appears and before it spreads to new growth. Application to established diseases may be less effective.

RESTRICTIONS
There are no restrictions on varieties safe to treat. SPIRAL may used on all commercial varieties of winter wheat, winter rye, winter and spring oats and barley.

RESISTANCE
In addition to a spiroketoalamine, SPIRAL contains a DMI fungicide and resistance to some members of this class of fungicides has been identified in Septotia leaf blotch (Mycosphaerella graminicola). This can reduce the efficacy of some DMI fungicides. To avoid resistance do not apply repeated applications of SPIRAL alone on the same crop against the same disease. In such situation use an appropriate tank mixture or alternate with another fungicide with a different mode of action. Where resistance occurs SPIRAL may not give adequate disease control. Consult the latest advice from FRAG UK and FRAC regarding disease resistance strategies.

CROP SPECIFIC INFORMATION INCLUDING DISEASES CONTROLLED
WINTER WHEAT
Diseases: SPIRAL will control eyespot, powdery mildew, yellow rust, brown rust, tan spot, Septoria leaf and glume blotch and the ear disease complex (Fusarium ear blight with a reduction in sooty moulds).
Dose: Apply SPIRAL at 1.25 L/ha as a medium spray (as defined by BCPC) in a water volume of 200 – 300 L/ha. A total dose of 3.75 L/ha PROTEB is permitted, allowing up to 3 applications of the full dose before the caryopsis is at the watery ripe stage.
Timing: Powdery mildew, yellow and brown rust and tan spot should be treated at the first sign of disease with a second application 2 – 3 weeks later where disease pressure remains high. Eyespot should also be treated at the first sign of disease, usually at GS30 – 32. Septoria leaf blotch and glume blotch should be treated before the disease is established in the crop and maximum protection of the upper leaves and ear is achieved by application between full flag leaf emergence (GS 37) and mid flowering (GS 65). Asecond application may be required where disease pressure persists. For maximum activity against the ear disease complex (Fusarium) and a reduction in sooty moulds, apply SPIRAL between ear emergence and the end of flowering (GS59 – 69).

WINTER AND SPRING BARLEY
Diseases: SPIRAL will control eyespot, powdery mildew, yellow rust, brown rust, Rhynchosporium and Net blotch.
Dose: Apply SPIRAL at 1.25 L/ha as a medium spray (as defined by BCPC) in a water volume of 200 – 300 L/ha. Atotal dose of 2.5 L/ha SPIRAL is permitted, allowing up to 2 applications of the full dose up to the beginning of flowering.
Timing: Powdery mildew, yellow and brown rust and tan spot should be treated at the first sign of disease with a second application 2 – 3 weeks later where disease pressure remains high. Eyespot should also be treated at the first sign of disease, usually at GS30 – 32.

WINTER AND SPRING OATS
Diseases: SPIRAL will control eyespot, mildew and crown rust.
Timing: Powdery mildew and crown rust should be treated at the first sign of disease with a second application 2 – 3 weeks later where disease pressure remains high. Eyespot should also be treated at the first sign of disease, usually at GS30 – 32.

WINTER RYE
Diseases: SPIRAL will control eyespot, powdery mildew, Rhynchosporium and brown rust. It will also control the ear disease complex (Fusarium ear blight with a reduction in sooty moulds).
Dose: Apply SPIRAL at 1.25 L/ha as a medium spray (as defined by BCPC) in a water volume of 200 – 300 L/ha. A total dose of 3.75 L/ha SPIRAL is permitted, allowing up to 3 applications of the full dose up to before the caryopsis is at the watery ripe stage.
Timing: Powdery mildew, Rhynchosporium and brown rust should be treated at the first sign of disease with a second application 2 – 3 weeks later where disease pressure remains high. Eyespot should also be treated at the first sign of disease, usually at GS30 – 32. For maximum activity against the ear disease complex (Fusarium) and a reduction in sooty moulds, apply SPIRAL between ear emer- gence and the end of flowering (GS59 – 69).

MIXING
Before spraying it is important to check all hoses, filters and nozzles, and to ensure that the sprayer is clean and correctly set to give an even application at the correct volume. Thoroughly shake the pack before use. Half fill the spray tank with clean water. Add the required quantity of SPIRAL and begin agitation. Add the remainder of the water and agitate the mixture thoroughly before and during spraying. Spray immediately after mixing.
