DIRECTIONS FOR USE ON
FORAGE MAIZE
IMPORTANT: This information is approved as part of the Product Label. All instructions within this section must be read carefully in order to obtain safe and successful use of this product.

RESTRICTIONS
Do not overlap spray swaths.
Do not apply with oils or other adjuvants.
Do not apply using hand held equipment or at volumes lower than those recommended.
Do not spray in windy weather as drift may damage susceptible crops such as beans, beet, brassicas (including Oilseed rape) carrots, legumes, lettuce, tomato, fruit, hops, glasshouse crops, and drift onto open water surfaces. .
Do not apply during frosty weather, drought, when soil is waterlogged, when rain is expected within 12 hours of spraying, or to crops under any stress whatsoever.
Templar should only be used where competitive weed populations emerge. In the absence of significant weed populations, herbicides such as TEMPLAR can reduce yield.

CROP SAFETY
TEMPLAR can be safely used on all forage maize varieties. When used under hot conditions or when growth is particularly rapid scorch to foliage will occur.
This rapidly disappears without affecting the growth of the crop.
To avoid scorch apply TEMPLAR to young plants under cool conditions. If the weather during application turns hot spray in the evening when temperatures have fallen.

WEED CONTROL
TEMPLAR is a contact herbicide with residual action.
It is not necessary to add other residual herbicides to TEMPLAR. TEMPLAR can be applied where a pre-emergence residual herbicide has been used.

SPLIT DOSE TREATMENTS
Weed control can be enhanced by using two split doses of TEMPLAR especially where a second flush of weeds appears. The weeds controlled are the same as for the single dose treatment of TEMPLAR.
The stage of growth of the crop is not critical provided it has reached the second leaf stage. Spray each dose when the weeds are at the seedling to 2 true leaf stage.
Always ensure that the second application is made before the crop has nine expanded true leaves and before the crop canopy covers the ground.

CROP SPECIFIC INFORMATION
CROP AND TIMING
Spring sown forage maize may be treated with TEMPLAR from the 2nd fully expanded leaf stage up to before the nine fully expanded leaf stage. Crops should be sprayed when the main weed flush has germinated and the largest weeds are at the 4 leaf stage. Applications to weeds larger than this growth stage may not be fully effective.

Rate of Application
2.5 l/ha in at least 200 l/ha water

SOIL CONDITIONS
TEMPLAR can be used on all soil types. On soils with high organic matter, organic soils or where high amounts of manure or slurry have been applied the residual action of TEMPLAR may be reduced.
Apply to a fine seed bed.
Soils should be moist at the time of treatment. Do not disturb the soil following application as this may reduce activity.
On dry soils the residual action may be reduced. In this situation use the split dose treatments listed below.

SUCCEEDING CROPS
Land treated with TEMPLAR should be mould board ploughed to a depth of 150mm before any succeeding crop is planted. Succeeding crops may only be planted in the spring following application with TEMPLAR.

MIXING AND APPLICATION
Ensure that the sprayer is clean and in good working order. Calibrate according to the sprayer manufacturers recommendations.
Volume - Apply in a minimum of 200 l/ha and increase to 400 l/ha in dense crops or where weeds are at the largest growth stage.
Maintain agitation during mixing and loading and until spraying is complete.
Pressure- Do not use less than 2 bars (30 p.s.i.
Apply as a fine spray.
