DIRECTION FOR USE
Restrictions
BiPlay SX must not be applied to any crop suffering from stress as a result of drought, water-logging, low temperature, pest or disease attack, nutrient deficiency, soil compaction or other factors reducing plant growth. Do not use BiPlay SX on crops undersown or to be undersown with grasses, clover or other legumes or any other broad-leaved crop. Because some non-target crops are highly sensitive to BiPlay SX, special care must be taken to avoid damage by drift onto broad-leaved plants outside the target area, or onto ponds, waterways or ditches. Thorough cleansing of equipment is also very important – see separate section. Do not apply within 7 days of rolling the crop. Do not use BiPlay SX in tank-mix on oats or triticale. Allow at least 7 days between BiPlay SX and other treatments (10 days if crop is growing poorly or under stress). Do not apply BiPlay SX in sequence or in tank-mixture with a product containing any other sulfonylurea herbicide or ALS-inhibiting herbicide, except as directed for Atlantis WG, Absolute, Barton WG, Boxer, Broadway Star, Broadway Sunrise, Bullion, Ductis™ SX, Eagle, Excalibur, Exceed SX, Galaxy, GF 184, GF-2070, Hatra, Hiker, Horus, Hunter, Lexus SX, Lexus CLASS, Lexus MILLENIUM, Othello, Pacifica, Pursuit, Spitfire, Staka SX, Starane Gold, Starane Vantage, Starane XL or Unite.

Following crops (see also following table)
Only cereals, field beans, oilseed rape or grass may be sown in the same calendar year as harvest of a cereal crop treated with just the DuPont registered sulfonylurea herbicide BiPlay SX. Ploughing is not a requirement when BiPlay SX is the only sulfonylurea herbicide used on this cereal crop. However, regardless of whatever previous chemical treatments have been applied to the field, in general establishing oilseed rape using subsoiling techniques will always have an elevated degree of risk due to the lack of soil movement and less seed to soil contact, so cultivation is recommended. When additional sulfonylurea herbicides have been used in a programme either in tank-mix or sequence with BiPlay SX, it is essential to refer to the labels of these partner products for specific advice on cultivations prior to drilling the next crop as these may be more limiting and so should be adhered to. Any crop may be sown in the following spring if just treated with BiPlay SX otherwise please refer to the following crops table.

Crop failure
In the event of crop failure for any reason, sow only winter wheat within 3 months of application of BiPlay SX. Prior to sowing, soil should be ploughed and cultivated to a depth of at least 15cm.

General information
BiPlay SX contains metsulfuron-methyl and tribenuron-methyl, sulfonylurea (ALS inhibitor) herbicides, which work mainly by contact action on a wide rage of broad-leaved weeds. BiPlay SX is readily translocated within the weed plant, inhibiting growth within hours of treatment, thus preventing competition with the crop. Many weeds show marked colour changes as they die back after treatment, but the time taken for these symptoms to appear and final death of the weed will vary according to species and weather conditions. The full effects of treatment may not be apparent for up to three to four weeks. Plants not completely killed are often severely stunted and much less competitive with the crop. BiPlay SX is most effective when applied to small, actively growing weeds. Larger weeds may become less susceptible and it is important to check the size of weeds so that the product can be used at the best time. Good spray cover of the weeds must be obtained for best results. Some species, such as Chickweed and Mayweed, are well controlled up to large plants. Under normal spring moisture conditions susceptible weeds germinating soon after treatment will be controlled.

Crops/varieties and timing
BiPlay SX can be used on all varieties of winter wheat, spring wheat (not durum), winter barley, spring barley, winter oats and triticale. BiPlay SX must only be applied from 1st February, from the 3 leaf stage to before the flag-leaf extending stage (before GS41).

Crop safety
BiPlay SX is safe to all recommended crops if used as directed.

Rate of use
45g per hectare.

Application
Apply BiPlay SX in 100-200 litres of water/ha at 2-3 bar (30-45 psi) pressure as a MEDIUM spray to give good spray cover of the weeds. With thick crops and/or dense weeds use higher water volumes (400 l/ha) to ensure good spray cover.

Limit to number of applications
One per crop.

Weather
Very dry soil conditions may reduce weed control. Residual effects may be reduced by heavy rain.

Soil
BiPlay SX can be used on all soil types.

Resistance management
This product contains tribenuron-methyl and metsulfuron-methyl, which are ALS inhibitors, also classified by the Herbicide Resistance Action Committee as ‘Group B’. When herbicides with the same mode of action are used repeatedly over several years in the same field, selection of resistant biotypes can take place. These can propagate and may become dominating. A weed species is considered resistant to a herbicide if it survives a correctly-applied treatment at the recommended dose. Development of resistance within a weed species can be avoided or delayed by sequencing or tank-mixing with suitable products having a different mode of action. A strategy for preventing and managing resistance should be adopted. The Weed Resistance Action Group has produced guidelines and copies are available from the HGCA, CPA, your distributor, crop advisor or product manufacturer.
