DIRECTION FOR USE
Restrictions
Do not spray Venzar Flowable on any crop under stress from drought, waterlogging, cold, wind, other herbicides, pest or disease attack, nutrient or lime deficiency, or factors reducing plant growth. Do not use Venzar Flowable pre-emergence on beet treated with imidacloprid (Jive or Nuprid 600 FS) or Cruiser Force seed dressings. Do not treat beet post-emergence with a Venzar Flowable-phenmedipham mixture when the temperature is or is likely to be above 21°C on the day of spraying or under conditions of high light intensity.
Crops damaged by wind buffeting or blown soil particles should not be treated until they have recovered from the damage. Care should be taken under the following conditions;
Crops subjected to substantial day to night temperature changes shortly before or after spraying.
Crops subjected to frost within several days spraying.
Crops sprayed under conditions of high light intensity.
Crops damaged to insect attack.
NOTE: Venzar Flowable may be applied pre-emergence or post-emergence on crops treated with betacyfluthrin + clothianidin (Poncho Beta).

Following crops/Crop failure
Do not sow or plant any crop within four months of spraying Venzar Flowable. Plough and cultivate to a depth of at least 15cm. Where Venzar Flowable has been applied and crop failure occurs for any reason within this period, sow or plant only sugar beet, fodder beet, red beet, mangels, or strawberries. Do not spray any more Venzar Flowable for at least four months.

MINERAL SOILS – Pre-emergence application
Approved crops
Venzar Flowable can be used on all varieties of sugar beet, red beet, mangels and fodder beet.
Timing
Apply Venzar Flowable at drilling or immediately after, before weeds have germinated.
Crop safety
Seed must be drilled at least 1.5cm deep and well covered with soil.

If variations in soil type occur within a field the Venzar Flowable rate for the lightest soil type should be used. Do not use on sands, stoney/gravelly soils, heavy soils, or soils with more than 10% organic matter.

Application
Spray Venzar Flowable onto a freshly prepared moist seedbed which is free from weeds. Poorly prepared seed-beds may result in reduced weed control. Seed should not be drilled less than 1.5cm deep.

OVERALL SPRAYS
Apply Venzar Flowable overall in 200 litres of water/ha, ideally spraying across the rows.

BAND SPRAYS
Spray Venzar Flowable in 240 litres of water/ha of band. With a band sprayer fitted with nozzles each treating 18cm band of soil, 240 litres of spray will treat 2.9 ha of sugar beet grown in 51cm rows.

Limit to number of applications
Only one application may be made prior to crop emergence.

Weather
Rain is essential after application to carry Venzar Flowable into the root zone. Weed control may be poor if a dry period follows application.

SUGAR BEET ON MINERAL SOILSPost-emergence application
General information
The addition of Venzar Flowable in post emergence tank-mixes gives residual control, increases the contact action on weeds and improves crop safety. For best results the mixture should be applied as part of a programme with a pre-drilling or pre-emergence herbicide application. Where there has been no pre-emergence treatments, Venzar Flowable tank-mixes can still be used but the results may not be as good.

Approved crops
Venzar Flowable can be used post-emergence on sugar beet only.

Crop safety
Venzar Flowable can be used on all varieties of sugar beet depending on the condition of the sugar beet. Do not treat beet post-emergence with a Venzar Flowable + phenmedipham based mixture when the following conditions apply:  Crops subjected to substantial day to night temperature changes shortly before or after spraying.  Crops subjected to frost within several days of spraying.  Crops sprayed under conditions of high light intensity. Crops damaged by insect attack.

Seed treatment
Venzar Flowable may be used post-emergence after any approved seed treatment.

Preceding treatments
Venzar Flowable tank-mixes can be sprayed following the manufacturer’s recommended reduced rate of pre-emergence Venzar Flowable or Pyramin, Volcan Combi or Goltix Flowable. It can also follow Fiesta T applied pre or early post-emergence.

Timing
Venzar Flowable can be applied when the sugar beet has reached the fully expanded cotyledon stage and weeds are between the cotyledon and two true leaf stage. If a low dose and low volume programme is being followed then further applications must be made as each new flush of weeds reaches the cotyledon stage. Up to 3 low doses, low volume applications of Venzar Flowable + appropriate partner products may be made in one season according to manufacturers label. Latest time of application is when the beet leaves meet across the rows.

Rate of use
Venzar Flowable is recommended at 0.4 l/ha with a suitable partner product(s) applied from the cotyledon stage of beet according to the manufacturer’s recommendations. Where weeds which are more susceptible to metamitron (e.g. fat-hen, orache) are present in the spectrum, the inclusion of Goltix Flowable with Venzar Flowable 0.2-0.4 l/ha, from the expanded cotyledon stage of the crop, may lead to improved control.

The total quantity of Venzar Flowable applied post-emergence must not exceed 1.3 litres per hectare.

Application
Apply overall in 80-100 litres of water/ha.

Limit to the number of applications
Venzar Flowable cannot be applied more than 3 times post-emergence to a sugar beet crop.

Weather:
Do not apply any of the Venzar Flowable + phenmedipham based mixtures when the temperature is, or is likely to be over 21°C (70°F) on the day of spraying.
Dry weather may reduce the level of weed control.
Heavy rainfall after treatment may result in crop damage, especially if followed by very hot weather and on sandy or free draining soils.
Under any of the above circumstances, treatment with Venzar Flowable + phenmedipham based mixtures may cause a check in growth from which the crop may not fully recover.

Soils
Venzar Flowable + phenmedipham based mixtures may be used on any soil type except sands, stony or gravelly soils. Crops on organic soils may be treated, but residual weed control may be reduced.

Weeds controlled
See table. For improved control of some larger weeds, Venzar Flowable is compatible with Debut or other suitable contact products according to the manufacturer’s recommendations.

Addition of adjuvants
Adjuvants should not be added to Venzar Flowable tank-mixes until the crop has reached first pair of true leaves fully expanded growth stage.
