DIRECTIONS FOR USE
IMPORTANT: This information is approved as part of the Product Label. All instructions within this section must be read carefully in order to obtain safe and successful use of this product.

GENERAL INFORMATION
X-Sept is a broad-spectrum protectant fungicide containing the active ingredient chlorothalonil for use in winter and spring barley and winter and spring wheat. In winter and spring barley, X-Sept gives moderate protectant action against Rhynchosporium secalis. In winter and spring wheat, X-Sept gives protection against Leaf Spot (Septoria tritici) and Glume Blotch (Leptosphaeria (=Septoria) nodorum). Best results are obtained from applications made before disease first appears in the crop or at the first sign of disease attack. Ensure good spray coverage of all the crop foliage.

DOSE RATE
Apply 2.0 litres per ha in a minimum of 200 litres of water per hectare as a MEDIUM spray (BCPC) at a minimum spray pressure of 2.0 bar. Do not make more than 2 applications at the maximum individual dose of 2.0 litres per hectare to any crop.

CROP SPECIFIC INFORMATION
Winter barley and spring barley
X-Sept gives moderate protectant action against Rhynchosporium secalis. Barley Spotting will also be controlled when used as part of a programme with other fungicides.

Application timing
Apply immediately disease is first detected in the crop. Make a second application before the beginning of heading (GS 51) if Rhynchosporium disease pressure is severe or when there is a risk of leaf spotting.

Winter wheat and spring wheat
X-Sept gives protection against Leaf Spot (Septoria tritici) and Glume Blotch (Leptosphaeria (=Septoria) nodorum).

Application timing
GS30-32 Application. A single application may be made at up to the maximum recommended dose rate of 2.0 litres/ha between GS30 (start of stem elongation) and GS32 (second node detectable) if conditions are favourable for the spread of Septoria or if the disease is evident in the crop. An application at this timing may give protection against the spread of Septoria in the crop.
GS33-65 Application: For protection of the flag leaf and ear from Septoria, apply between GS33 (third node detectable) and GS65 (mid-flowering) apply at up to the maximum recommended dose rate of 2.0 litres/ha. Best results are usually obtained from applications made between GS33 and GS39 (flag leaf fully emerged).
Activity against Septoria may be reduced if there is a significant level of mildew infection within the crop. In this situation, always use a suitable mildew fungicide as part of the disease control programme

APPLICATION
Before use, make sure the spraying equipment is cleaned from any previous use and that it is calibrated to apply the recommended spray volume and pressure. Make sure all the sprayer nozzles are performing equally and that the spray boom is set at the correct height above the crop to ensure good coverage of all the crop foliage with the spray. During application do not allow the spray boom to bounce or yaw

MIXING
Half fill the sprayer tank with clean water and begin gentle agitation. Shake the product container well and add the required quantity of product into the sprayer tank and allow to disperse fully. Rinse the container(s) thoroughly by using an integrated pressure rinsing device or manually rinsing three times. Add the washings to the sprayer and continue agitation whilst topping up the tank with water to the required level. Continue agitation until the mix is sprayed out. Spray immediately after mixing, do not allow the mixture to stand. If a tank-mix is being used, add to the sprayer tank separately, and follow any specific instructions on the order of mixing. Immediately after use, thoroughly clean the sprayer and all equipment with a proprietary detergent cleaner.

COMPATIBILITY
The following tank-mixes have been tested for physical compatibility with XSept at the recommended rates and can be tank-mixed when used at recommended rates.
