General information
Credo contains both picoxystrobin (a strobilurin) and chlorothalonil (a chlorophenyl). It has systemic, translaminar and preventative properties and is vapour active for the control of a wide range of diseases in wheat and barley. Picoxystrobin and other strobilurin analogues inhibit fungal respiration. Their mode of action is different from the action of other fungicidal groups and there is no known crossresistance to this mode of action in pathogens, which have developed reduced sensitivity to other fungicides. Chlorothlonil is a multi-site fungicide and shows no cross-resistance to strobilurins and triazoles. Credo shows good crop safety, disease control and maintenance of green leaf area which results in significant yield benefits. Credo is best used as a protectant treatment or in the earliest stages of disease development. The length of disease control is generally about four to six weeks during the period of active stem elongation, but can be more when applied at flag leaf/ear emergence.

Directions for use
Crops/varieties and timing
Credo may be used on all varieties of wheat and barley.
Credo is accepted by the BBPA for use on crops for malting.

Winter and spring wheat:
From before disease onset to before grain watery ripe (GS 71).
Winter and spring barley:
From before disease onset to before first spikelet visible (GS 51).

Disease control is most effective when diseases are at low levels and before they spread to new growth. Application can be repeated after 3-4 weeks if necessary.

Crop safety
Credo is safe on all commercially recommended varieties of winter and spring wheat and winter and spring barley crops if used as directed.

Rates of use
Winter and spring wheat: 2 litres product per ha.
Winter and spring barley: 2 litres product per ha.
Rates may be subject to adjustment depending on variety, tank-mix partner and disease pressures.

Application
Apply in 200 litres of water per hectare using a MEDIUM spray quality at a pressure of at least 2 bar. In dense crops, increase the water volume to 250 to 300 litres/ha to improve coverage.

Limit to number of applications
Wheat and barley: Maximum 2 applications per crop (maximum 4.0 l/ha).

Weather
Rainfall within 2 hours of application may reduce the effectiveness of the treatment.

Soil
Apply Credo under good growing conditions with adequate soil moisture. Avoid poor growing conditions, which may give less reliable results.

Resistance management
credocredo is a co-formulated mixture of the strobilurin picoxystrobin and chlorothalonil. The two active ingredients possess different modes of action and thus form part of a resistance management strategy. credocredo contains a member of the QoI cross-resistance group. credocredo should be used preventatively and should not be relied on for its curative potential. Control of many diseases may be improved by using credocredo with an appropriate triazole mixture partner. This is also good practice for resistance management. Use credocredo as part of an Integrated Crop Management (ICM) strategy incorporating other methods of control, including where appropriate other fungicides with a different mode of action. You must not apply more than two foliar applications of QoI containing products to any cereal crop. Disease control may be reduced if strains of other pathogens less sensitive to Credo develop. Users should refer to current FRAG-UK guidelines for QoI compounds.

Diseases controlled
Wheat: Septoria tritici, Leptoshaeria (Syn Septoria) nodorum,Yellow Rust (moderate), Brown Rust, Tan Spot.
Barley: Net Blotch, Brown Rust, Rhynchosporium, Barley spotting – when used as part of a programme with other fungicides.
Control of many diseases may be improved by using Credo with an appropriate triazole mixture partner (e.g. epoxiconazole or prothioconazole). This is also good practice for resistance management.

Compatibility
Refer to Compatibility appendix.

Mixing
Make sure the sprayer is set to give an even application at the correct volume. Fill the spray tank with half the required volume of clean water and start agitation. Shake the credocredo containers well before use. credocredo mixes easily with water and should be added directly to the spray tank during filling. Add the required amount of credocredo to the spray tank. Wash out containers and add washings to the spray tank. Agitate the mixture thoroughly before use and continue agitation during spraying. Do not leave the spray liquid in the sprayer for long periods (such as during meal breaks or overnight).

Spray tank clean out
Thoroughly wash out sprayer according to manufacturer’s guidelines and dispose of washings and clean containers according to DEFRA Code of Practice and local Water Authority guidelines.
