Verticillium wilt

Verticillium dahliae

Verticillium wilt can be a significant problem for cabbage, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, chinese cabbage and bok choy. However, broccoli, a close relative of cauliflower, is not susceptible to this pathogen.
Symptoms: the older, lower leaves turn yellow. These leaves later turn brown and drop off the stem, often when plants approach maturity and form flower buds. The xylem of stems and roots becomes black and microsclerotia can be detected in vascular tissues. Overall growth of the plant is stunted.
