General Information

Encounter is a broad-spectrum insecticide manufactured by Insecticides (India) Limited. It is a combination product containing emamectin benzoate and thiamethoxam as active ingredients. Encounter is formulated as a water-dispersible granule (WG) containing 3% emamectin benzoate and 12% thiamethoxam. It is a systemic insecticide that provides effective control of a wide range of insect pests in various crops.

Mode of Action

Encounter acts by disrupting the insect's nervous system through two distinct modes of action. Emamectin benzoate acts on the insect's nervous system by binding to glutamate-gated chloride channels, causing paralysis and death. Thiamethoxam interferes with the nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs), disrupting the transmission of nerve impulses, leading to paralysis and death of the insect pests.

Application

Encounter is recommended for use in a variety of crops, including cotton, rice, vegetables, and fruits. It can be applied as a foliar spray or soil drench. The recommended dosage and application method vary depending on the target crop and pest.
