General Information:
Neozin is a selective pre-emergence and early post-emergence herbicide that contains the active ingredient atrazine. It is effective against a wide range of annual broadleaf weeds and some grasses in maize and sugarcane.
Mode of Action:
Atrazine is a triazine herbicide that inhibits the enzyme photosystem II. Photosystem II is a complex of proteins and chlorophyll that is involved in the light-dependent reactions of photosynthesis. By inhibiting photosystem II, atrazine stops the production of ATP and NADPH, which are essential energy molecules for plant growth and development.
Application:
Neozin can be applied as a pre-emergence or early post-emergence herbicide. The recommended dose and application method will vary depending on the weeds to be controlled and the stage of crop growth. For example, to control annual broadleaf weeds and some grasses in maize, Neozin can be applied as a pre-emergence herbicide at a dose of 1.0-1.5 kg per hectare.
Precautions:
- Neozin is a selective herbicide, but it can harm some crops if applied incorrectly. It is important to read and follow the label directions carefully.
- Neozin is not rain fast. Therefore, it should not be applied if rain is expected within 4 hours of application.
- Neozin is toxic to fish and other aquatic organisms. Therefore, it should not be applied near water bodies.
