General Information:

Prahar is a broad-spectrum acaricide and insecticide with contact and stomach action, effective for the control of mites and a variety of insect pests in various crops, including tea, cotton, vegetables, and fruits. It is formulated with profenofos, an organophosphate insecticide known for its broad-spectrum activity and long residual control.

Mode of Action:

Profenofos acts as an acetylcholinesterase (AChE) inhibitor, disrupting the transmission of nerve impulses in insects and mites, leading to paralysis and death. It exhibits both contact and stomach action, providing effective control of various pests.

Application:

Prahar can be applied as a foliar spray using a knapsack sprayer or any other suitable spraying equipment. It is recommended to spray in the early morning or late evening hours when the temperature is cooler and the wind is calm.

Preparation for Spray Solution:
Take a small quantity of water in a container and dissolve required quantity of Prahar 50 EC in it. Stir this solution properly and mix it with the remaining quantity of water. The volume of total water required will depend on crop stage, crop cover, the total area to be treated and the type of sprayer used.

Precautions:

  • Wear protective clothing, gloves, and goggles while handling and applying Prahar.
  • Avoid contact with skin and eyes.
  • Do not spray near water bodies or areas where bees are active.
  • Store the insecticide in a cool, dry place away from food and reach of children.

Atropine the patient immediately and maintain full atropinization by repeated doses of 2 to 4 mg at 5 to 10 minutes interval for hours together. The need for atropinization is indicated by the continuance of symptoms. As much as 25 to 50 mg may be required in a day. The extent of salivation is a useful criterion to follow in adjusting the dosage of atorpine. 1-2 gm 2 PAM dissolved in 10 CC distilled water and is injected intravenously very slowly for 10 to 15 minutes.
