Introduction

Pronounce (Godrej Agrovet Ltd) Quizalofop ethyl 7.5% + Imazethapyr 15% w/w EC is a selective post-emergence herbicide used to control a wide range of annual grasses and broadleaf weeds in rice and sugarcane. It is a combination of two active ingredients: quizalofop ethyl, an aryloxyphenoxypropionate (ARYLXYPHENOXYPROPIONATE) herbicide that inhibits the enzyme acetyl-coenzyme A carboxylase (ACC), and imazethapyr, an imidazolinone (IMIDAZOLINONE) herbicide that inhibits the enzyme acetolactate synthase (ALS).

Mode of Action

Quizalofop ethyl is absorbed by the foliage of plants and translocated throughout the plant. Once inside the plant, it inhibits the enzyme ACC, which is responsible for the synthesis of fatty acids. Without fatty acids, the cell membranes of plants break down and the plants die.

Imazethepyr, on the other hand, is also absorbed by the foliage and roots of plants and translocated throughout the plant. Once inside the plant, it inhibits the enzyme ALS, which is responsible for the synthesis of branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs). Without BCAAs, plants cannot grow and eventually die.

Application Rates

The application rate of Pronounce will vary depending on the target weed, the crop, and the environmental conditions. In general, the application rate will range from 0.5 to 1.0 liters per hectare.

Application Methods

Pronounce can be applied by foliar spray. Foliar spray is the most common application method. To apply by foliar spray, mix the appropriate amount of product with water and apply the mixture to the foliage of the weeds until they are thoroughly wet.

Application Timing

Pronounce should be applied when weeds are actively growing. The best time to apply is in the spring or fall when weeds are young and tender.

Re-Entry Interval

The re-entry interval for Pronounce is 24 hours. This means that people should not enter the treated area until 24 hours after the last application.

Precautions
