General Information:

Pyclome is a broad-spectrum insecticide that belongs to the Pyridine group. It is effective against a wide range of insect pests in a variety of crops, including cotton, brinjal, and vegetables. Pyclome is a systemic insecticide that is absorbed by the roots and leaves of the plants and translocated to all parts of the plant, including the growing points. It acts as a nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (nAChR) antagonist, blocking the transmission of nerve impulses in insects and causing paralysis and death.

Active Ingredient:

  • Pyclome 50% WP

Mode of Action:

Pyclome acts as a nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (nAChR) antagonist. nAChRs are involved in the transmission of nerve impulses in insects. By blocking nAChRs, Pyclome prevents the normal flow of nerve impulses, which leads to paralysis and death of the insects.

Application:

Pyclome can be applied as a foliar spray or soil drench. The recommended dose and application method will vary depending on the crop and the target pest. For example, to control whiteflies in cotton, Pyclome can be applied as a foliar spray at a dose of 1.0-1.5 kg per hectare.

Precautions:

  • Pyclome is a selective insecticide, but it can injure some crops if applied incorrectly. It is important to read and follow the label directions carefully.
  • Pyclome is not rain fast. Therefore, it should not be applied if rain is expected within 4 hours of application.
  • Pyclome is toxic to fish and other aquatic organisms. Therefore, it should not be applied near water bodies.

Additional Information:

Pyclome is a popular insecticide among farmers in India because it is effective against a wide range of insect pests, including some difficult-to-control pests such as whiteflies in cotton and jassids in brinjal. It is also relatively safe for crops and has a moderate residual activity in the soil, which helps to protect crops from insect pests for a longer period of time.
