General Information:
Uniquat is a non-selective herbicide that contains the active ingredient paraquat dichloride. It is effective against a wide range of annual and perennial weeds, including grasses, broadleaf weeds, and sedges. Uniquat is a rapid-acting herbicide that kills plants within hours of application.
Mode of Action:
Paraquat dichloride is a photosystem I inhibitor herbicide. Photosystem I is a complex of proteins and chlorophyll that is involved in the light-dependent reactions of photosynthesis. By inhibiting photosystem I, paraquat dichloride stops the production of NADPH, which is an essential energy molecule for plant growth and development.
Application:
Uniquat can be applied as a foliar spray. The recommended dose and application method will vary depending on the weeds to be controlled and the crop to be protected.
Precautions:
- Uniquat is a non-selective herbicide, so it will kill any plant that it comes into contact with. It is important to use extreme caution when applying Uniquat to avoid killing desirable plants.
- Uniquat is toxic to humans and animals. It is important to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling and applying Uniquat.
- Uniquat is also toxic to fish and other aquatic organisms. Therefore, it should not be applied near water bodies.
