Flowers: In a caterpillar-like arrangement (cyme) that is unbranched or with up to 7 branches. Flowers in 2 rows on either side of the cyme; joined petals (corolla) 5.5–8 mm long, blue to purple, yellow-throated. Flowers most of the year except for winter in southern parts of its range.
Perennial herb spreading or prostrate up to 60 cm high. Root system large. Leaves 2–9 cm long and 0.4–2.5 cm wide, lanceolate, dull-green, hairy with glandular and non-glandular hairs, leaf stalk to 0.4 cm long. Seed-like segments of fruit (mericarps) ovate, 1.5–2.5 mm long.
