GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

MIXING

Acclaim can be mixed with water or diesel. Mix only the required amount for daily use, avoiding storage.

Mixing in Water: Half-fill the spray tank with water, add Acclaim, and agitate continuously for thorough mixing before and during application.

Mixing in Diesel: Half-fill the tank with diesel, add Acclaim, and agitate to mix contents.

Tank Mixtures: Add wettable powder or dry flowable formulations first, followed by suspension concentrates, water-soluble salts, and emulsifiable concentrate formulations (Acclaim). Add spraying oils and surfactants (wetters) last.

APPLICATION METHODS and WATER RATES

BROADCAST APPLICATION IN CROPPING, PASTURE, AND FALLOW SITUATIONS

A. Ground Application (Boom): Apply Acclaim with a calibrated boom sprayer, using at least 50 L/ha water (100-400 L/ha for sugar cane). Use flat nozzles with pressures in the range of 200 to 300 kPa. Set the boom height to ensure a double overlap of the nozzle patterns.

B. Ground Directed Application (Dropper Nozzles): Use dropper nozzles in sorghum (beyond the 8-leaf growth stage) and maize/sweet corn (beyond the 6-leaf growth stage). Adjust nozzles to direct the spray into the base of the crop, away from leaves and the growing point.

C. Aerial Application: Apply in a minimum volume of at least 35 L/ha water (60 L/ha in sugarcane). Use calibrated equipment for droplets with an average diameter (VMD) of 250 – 350 microns. DO NOT apply in high temperatures (>30°C), no wind, or wind blowing toward susceptible crops. DO NOT use human flaggers without engineering controls.

WOODY WEED SITUATIONS

Weeds should be actively growing. Delay treatment of regrowth following bulldozing, slashing, burning, ploughing, or previous chemical treatment until there is at least 1 meter of new, vigorous growth.

A. High Volume Application (Hand Gun): Apply the recommended mix for full coverage using a number 6 – 8 tip at 700 to 1500 kPa. Ensure thorough coverage to the point of runoff.

A. Knapsack Application: Suitable for smaller infestations. Use the same rate and spray techniques as for hand gun application.

B. Low Volume, High Concentrate Application (Drench Gun or Gas-Powered Gun): Apply the recommended mixture uniformly across foliage, ensuring good coverage.

C. Basal Bark and Cut Stump Application (Basal Bark): Apply the recommended mixture around the base of each stem. DO NOT apply to wet stems, as it may repel the diesel mixture.

C. Cut Stump Application: Apply liberally to the freshly cut stump immediately after cutting.

CLEANING SPRAY EQUIPMENT

Rinsing (Water-Based Sprays): After using Acclaim Herbicide, empty the tank, wash the spray unit thoroughly, clean filters, and circulate clean water through the pump, lines, and nozzles.

Decontamination (before spraying cotton and other sensitive crops): Wash the tank, rinse, add an alkali detergent, circulate for at least fifteen minutes, drain, remove filters and nozzles for separate cleaning, flush the system with clean water.

Cleaning (Diesel-Based Sprays): Use a degreaser to remove diesel traces, rinse the tank, add an alkali detergent, circulate, spray the solution through nozzles, rinse well with clean water. For brushes and containers, spray with degreaser, hose off, repeat using detergents. DO NOT use equipment for other purposes.
